I received an email this afternoon, and Hotmail warned me that it contained a virus. I deleted, ran a scan, etc., and all seems to be well.

Be out of curiosity, I tried to get some information on what kind of virus it is, but "housecalls.trendmicro.com" doesn't have it in their virus encyclopedia.

So what is it? (It showed to be a "jpg.pif" file, if that matters.)

Thanks!

Nothing in Norton's encyclopedia of viruses!

"jpg.pif" is just a pif file hiding as a jpg -- makes you thinkl it is a jpg (which cannot transmit a virus) but is really a pif file which can transmit a virus!
