I have a brand new bidder who has himself ran a $150.00 reserve right up to the reserve.........I have a feeling IT just may be a previous problem buyer or a NON paying Bidder going for a second chance at giving another NEGATIVE.......

E bay,,,,,listen up! On the score card for feed back,,,,,Please! please, Please! refine this to a more geographical level,,,,NEW YORK,,,Michigan, California,,,,Hicksville,,,,,Something,,,something that will RING a bell,,,,,United States?????? Is MUCH too Broad!!!!!!! You need to narrow it down.

Calamazoo,,,,,!!! Hey!!!!! the last npb was from Calamazoo!!!! Hmmmmm,,,Is it the same guy??????? United States,,,,thanks for the heads up.....

I got his contact info. I just realized I COULD do that. I thought only AFTER the auction ends...Well I have never heard of him so it seems safe enough and the reason I know,,,,,, I,,,,,, have Never heard of him is BECAUSE the CITY,,,,,,,, he lives in is CLEARLY stated in his contact info. and I have never sold anything to that City....CITY IS a bell ringer,,,

It would have been SO much easier had I of just been able to see it on the feed back card. And NOT have had to alarm HIM with a Request contact info. thing from ebay, as HE was notified too when I,,,,, made the request.

I,,,,,,would NOT appreciate getting that,,,,,,IF,,,,,,I ,,,,were a bidder,,seems distrustful ,right off the bat! and I bet you HE,,,,,,,,will kill his own bid out of ,,,,How dare you look into my file for no good reason!! take you what ever and stuff it!!!! deletes his bid and I loose.....

All because I have,,,,,NO,,,,idea where is from without waving a red flag in the bidders face!!! stupid!!!!! Get a City or State on that score card and get RID of UNITED STATES!

Jack,
If i am understanding this right. Did you request contact info on him and now you're afraid he pull the bid because you did?
The only thing that stinks about that is when you request the contact info, yours goes to them as well - and if he is a bogus.....well who knows what then?

btw,,I sent a personal sorry note for the intrusion explaining e bay is NO longer a friendly place you have to actually manage you auctions,,,,,,if you DON'T you WILL be Burned,,,,,,,sooner or later,,,,,,,once had a disgruntled buyer buy 9 of my auctions,,,only intention,,,,,,well,,,you know......he did not do the 9 negs,,but I know he laughed his A$$ off at the nine non paying bidder notices. 20 days of crap X 9,,,,,He had NO intentions of every doing business on e bay again.

Ebay actually had such a system until recently. You could see all bidders zip codes (or country) in bid history while the auction was ongoing. Now, all they have is the winning bidders zip code AFTER the auction ends. It was one of the best moves they ever made when they introduced it. One can only wonder why they eliminated it.

The light at the end of the tunnel will turn out to be an oncoming train.

I'm with on this one Jack. It's even worse on Fixed Price only auctions. Ebay drops their feedback rating and the winner could have a minus 4 rating and you'd never know it unless you researched it on ebay.

Ahemmmm,I know personally who introduced the zip codes and yes,,,,,THEY screwed up a perfectly great idea.....What good is it AFTER,,,,,, the auction? NOT MUCH......During the auction and of course AFTER does still have merit but the WHOLE idea was during,,,,,And I HATE These, How much is shipping 92789 e mails!!!! I have NO clue as to where, these people are,,,,,and I have noted IN MY auctions,,,,,,93456 is NOT an address,,,,,,,Send a complete one or simply,,,,,I don't,,,,,reply......AT least say,,,NEW YORK!! I have a geographic location in my mind,,,,,,,,94563.......duh,,,,unless you go to the post office charts and put all the info in and THEN you end up with a CITY!!!!!

WAKE UP E BAY!!! MAKE IT EASY!!!!! NOT HARD!!!!

They must have pulled the zip code thing because of privacy concerns, ya think? Not that a zip or even city or state tells much, but maybe its a concern for cc fraud or something.

Partially privacy maybe. If you live in the tiny town of Lard Can, Tennessee you have a zip code. If you are bidding under a special ebay ID as to not let the kids/spouse know what you may ne getting them for their birthday or Christmas and they start looking at auctions of what they asked for and see a bidder with that tiny towns' zip code then they know what they are bidding on and if they won or not and even the secret ID. Could happen.
Like Jack said though a nearby major city or state name would still help a lot.

Never thought of that angle, Ace, but very true. (And what if the, ah.hem.hem..the kids or husband is bidding on porn or something? You put it so nicely, Christmas presents!!

Yeah, but Ace, you are talking about BIN or fixed price. Once they've BOUGHT the item, you are stuck one way or the other. Jack is concerned about the ability to cancel potentially troublesome bids before the aution ends.

With fixed price, it's already a done deal by the time you even know about it. I don't quite see why it matters what information they show on Buy-It-Now people.

I'm with Jack 'and' my Fixed Price concerns. Would you treat a buyer with a -4 rating the same as a buyer with a near-perfect rating? I don't. I give the bad feedback buyer very little slack and make sure of all aspects of the transactions. If 26% of all ebay transactions are now BIN or fixed auctions it will become more and more important. Why did ebay drop their rating from the auction page?

Tessa, another angle about the privacy thingie is the local pastor in a small town may be buying unsavory items and he could get caught. For Shame!

A short scenario, I list a 500 pound freezer. It says plain as day, NO SHIPPING!!!!! I get a bid!!!! yeah!!! I run over to see where the bidder is,,,,geographically,,,,,UNITED STATES??? WHAT? That really helps, thanks e bay.

Now,,,if it said,,,,,NEW YORK,,,,I immediately e mail the bidder and find out what? WHAT!!!!!! You dummy you placed a bid and read NOTHING!!!!! The picture looked GREAT!!!!!!!! grrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!! kill his bid,,,,,,block the non reader for the future!!!

NOW!!!!! what if I never bothered to look,,,,,,or ask...yeah!!!! I have a bid!!! Auction ends,,,,sells for $400.00. You guessed it,,NPB. 20 days of carp! and still not get ALL my money back!!!!!

Yes, I am aware there are a FEW exceptions his brother lives down the street from me and they are bidding for him. Fine....

99% of the time,,,,,NON READERS!!!!!

Yah Ace and those small towns know everything about everybody 1 postoffice, 1 corner store, 1 gas station etc. We have a few here.

Jack, I agree with you 100%. If a seller could forestall the NPB process why not save the headache?! But the way Ebay is set up now, you could have a neg or two and still come round to being a "good boy" or a "good girl". They always give the buyer that chance to redeem themselves along the way. I dont know if thats a good thing or not.
