Hi, all. I"m listing a Bauer ringware plate. Choices for "material" in item specifics are as follows: China and porcelain, earthenware, ironstone, stoneware, yellowware, other.
Yikes. I know it isn't porcelain, ironstone, yellowware, or stoneware. My choices then are earthenware or "other." Anybody know?

I am a quase-Bauer collector (as in I have several mixing bowls, flower pots etc) - I would go with "stoneware". It certainly isnt china - earthenware is close but I think the Bauer clay is white and fired at a higher temperature.

Thanks, guys! Just from your guesses, I can see how confusing this will be when Item Specifics are required! I'll probably go with "Stoneware"--but on the other hand these specifics were boldface thence not required, so I may drop the whole thing for now. However, in the future when these are required, ebay is going to have a lot of pottery sellers upset.
NEGLUS: I wasn't referred to the category (Bauer - pottery) but the Item Specifics chart that shows up on the description page when listing (AFTER the page where you choose the categories to list in). Thanks, though!
It's just tough; we all know that Bauer is pottery, not china or porcelain, but beyond that we haven't had to think about this.

Some of the 'item specific' categories have a sub-genre that you can type in whatever you want instead of 'other'. I used that option today in a VHS movie category.

ok- they don't have "item specifics" in postcards - sometimes i have trouble enough with categories( ie is Hollywood los angeles or other california?)...i guess the seller typed in "POTTERY" in the material section on the item i was looking at.
