Hello
In case you are new or a sleep at the wheel, week from Monday night is "labor day". In past years that has been the first good listing week of the fall/ winter season.

I am throwing my lots on to start 7PM 25th and will close 7PM 01 Sep which is a three day weekend. Let us hope it is a better week than any in the last three months.

I've been trying to decide if Labor Day IS a good time to list..I seem to have forgotten how it went last year!! So far I haven't listed a thing to end on Fri or Sat of the weekend and am debating about trying for Sunday...I will have listings end Monday for sure. Let's hope people are STARVED for eBAy after the long hot summer hiatus!

I have decided not to list male items that end on Sunday or Monday nite. Football season is starting and those nights are football nights. But then I will list female items that end on those nights as men can watch football, women can shop.....

isn't that kind of typecasting people? i have many female friends who wouldn't miss a football game and many male friends who couldn't be paid to watch one.

I will relist some Monday night and hoping for more bidders over the holiday weekend.

Then I will be listing to start next Sunday night so they have 2 days to look and a whole week with no kids at home to keep them from bidding.

then it's time to start getting the halloween costumes ready to list.

I don't think I am typecasting people just stating what I would do as that was the question. I know football stadiums are full of young women but I think the buyers will be on eBay. Remember there are sniping services to help the buyers that won't be around.

I honestly think there is no bad day to list. Even in my opinion the daytime is good. I haven't found a bad time yet. What I don't like is having all my auctions go off at 10 pm and then have to do the WBN. I don't use checkout so I don't get much sleep that night.

Libra! I can't believe you stay up late to deliver your WBN! All of my auctions end around bed-time and I let PayPal do the notifications for me! You can edit the default notice to say whatever you want to say..IE: checks and money orders bidpay or whatever accepted.and it's FREE!!!

I hate to say this, but since I AM not going anywhere, and the jolly good mate is working; I hope it rains labor day weekend so there will be more bored people at home on their computer browsing ebay

(Actually hope to get in last weekend of pool time here if it doesnt rain)

neglus. I have never done that. Do you think your bidders mind if the WBN is not personal? Do you get up in the morning and write your winners or do you just wait for them to respond. I get nervous about that and wonder if they would ever miss a WBN? Maybe with the winter coming up I need to think about doing that as I want to try and more listing. Is PayPal better than Vendio? Just a few questions before I try something new. Thanking you in advance.

Tessa, the jolly good mate is working?

I guess there goes your marriage proposal I'd hate to go by the appellation of 'jolly good mate' anyways. That's just a notch above 'my old man' or 'my ball and chain' isn't it?

Just kidding.

Libra: I do what you do--stay up late to do my WBNs. I've debated doing some automatic WBNs but just have hung back so far. I hope someone can reassure us on this. . . .

Hi all,

Dacreson, thanks for mentioning the holiday. I'd completely forgotten about it.

Last year, Labor Day bidding was very good for me. Maybe because people don't have to work on Monday they play on their computer Sunday night.

I'll be adding a few items to the handful I have up now.

Good luck to everyone! Let's hope the fall season gets into full swing this next weekend.

Hi again...

A comment on automated vs. personal WBN's...

I wait until maybe 9:30 or 10:00 Monday morning, then I send out a personalized WBN. That way the folks who have paid instantly don't get excess emails.

As a buyer, I find it disconcerting to get automated WBN's. I'm never quite sure if the seller got my instant payment or what. I really do prefer a personalized one, even if it's just a "Thanks for the payment - I'll send your package someday, probably when the snow melts. The dogs can't get out until then."

I have had great success with the PayPal WBN..I add my own verbage and assure buyers that PayPal is not required method of payment. Many people pay right after the auction ends. According to my feedback numbers, I have 800 repeat buyers, so they must not mind the automated WBN too much!

I don't like the hassle of Vendio checkout as a buyer and I dont want to impose that on my buyers. I send a Vendio (step 6 edited) "i have received your payment and shipped your item" notice when I ship (usually within a day or so of receiving payment) and that appears to be personalized.

I love the freedom of not having to worry that my buyers are being properly notified after an auction closes and now that PayPal and eBay are integrated, I think the buyers accept the WBN as being "official".

as a seller I use the Vendio WBN, fully edited to make it more personal. I sometimes have 1 or 2 that I do not get a response from. These get a personal WBN after a couple of days.

as a buyer I have used the Vendio checkout and found it extremely easy to use, taking less than a minute to complete checkout and Paypal payment.

I send the "received Payment, item shipped" email through Vendio too. with good results.

many buyers have complimented the Vendio checkout.

Can someone tell me--when you use the Vendio checkout, what does the title line say? I've been putting "From seller--Ebay auction #_____, etc." because so many of those e-mails buyers get right after buying items look alike, and I've suspected (correctly, I think) that they blow them off.
