Sometimes stuff like that happening is a sign that the computer needs a reboot. That's the first step of troubleshooting an intermitent problem such as you stated.

Hi Mimic, I was told to reboot also, and once when I was in a book store I was listening to an instructor guiding people on the use of the computer mouse and she was telling them to keep their cursor on the area or word hi-lighted then hit the copy key, if you right click and press copy, then right click to get the paste function and the paste is not there, go up to edit and you should be able to find the paste function. Hope this helps.

The problem is what is are memory leaks. It is caused when applications are opened & closed & do not properly release the memory they allocate. The longer a computer is up & running without being rebooted the more memory is allocated causing a reduction of resources to the point where normal function fail to work.

As a practice, I reboot my computer every 2 or 3 days and totally shut it down about once a week.

The hardest time for a computer comes when power is applied to start it. It is literally shocked back to life and any component that will fail usually does so at this time.
