Checked Kovel's and the Web in several spots - and only after nearly giving up do I come on bended knee to ask if you've seen this mark anywhere?

The mark here is on the back of this pierced or reticulated bowl:

Any help would be much appreciated.

The only help I can be is it probably is Japanese. I believe the partial word is Nippon.

There is a fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness."

Thanks, Max40. I didn't want to say it earlier because I wanted someone else to see that as well. That helps to confirm that I see the "Nippon" there as well.

Thanks for the validation.

It also has the look of Nippon. We have seen some beautiful items here this week. Now you can say there are still bargins out there. Congratulations to all.

My bargain was 14k white gold victorian pin/ pendant with a small diamond in it for $1.00. Can't decide if I want to sell it or not. It seems like glass ware, china gets good prices but jewelry, at least for me, doesn't.

Opps I used by wrong User ID sorry...I just can't kee two straight. How do the people with more do it....

"Nippon" means simply "Japan" for those who don't know and it's used on pieces made by a lot of different makers. You will need to find out what the K in the Diamond is to figure out just who made it. The word "Nippon" also appears under some early Noritake.

What a great piece! I love the colors! Should do well. Good luck! If I can figure out what K inside the Diamond stands for, I'll post it.
