hmmm... powerseller program is NOT prejudicial in servicing perks for sure ... i been goin' round and round via email with PS support, wondering why I can't get a 2nd category onto a figurine i listed the other day. [it's an Enesco, listed under pottery/glass/porcelain/figurines] ... started it at 9.99 .. it got a bid early on, and on day 2 of the 7 day listing i decided i wanted to add it into the collectibles/decorative/enesco, etc. category too ...

ebay SAYS,
"If your item has already received a bid/purchase or ends within 12 hours, you can only:

Add to the item description or add a second category.
(Exception: If your listing already has a bid/purchase AND ends within 12 hours, you can't add to your description or add a second category)

Add optional seller features to increase your item's visibility."

But it is not letting me add a 2nd category! ... PS support keeps sending me cut/paste form letters telling me that i can't change the category after a bid is placed, and i keep writing back to them saying 'i don't want to CHANGE the category, ... i am TRYING to ADD a 2nd category ... ... then he says:

"Please, allow me to be more clear on this subject. As stated on the
Announcement Board:

We have slightly altered our policy for the Revise Your Item feature.
Sellers will no longer be able to change the category of their item if
there are any bids on the item, AND/OR there are less than 12 hours
remaining in the listing.
This should provide a more consistent experience for our members, as
this is the same guideline for changing the description of a listing. It
is important to align these policies, as many new features (such as Item
Specifics) are now unique per category and also impact the item
description. As such, a change in the category also changes the item
description.

The new policy went into effect on the US site August 13th, and will be
applied to our international sites within a few weeks."

So now I'm writing again to them, to tell them they are NOT solving my problem of ADDING a 2nd category ... i guess they don't want my extra 30 cent.!!!

one of you try to 'add a 2nd category' on an auction that has more than 12 hours to go... you will see it takes you through all the steps to do so, but when you hit 'submit', it tells you , "The item you tried to revise:
"blah blah blah"(#222222222)

has received bids while you were revising and/or has less than 12 hours left. As a result, your revisions were not saved. There are still some ways you can revise your item."

Nothing in this quote is true; it did NOT get another bid while i keep trying to add the 2nd categ. and it does NOT end in 12 hours! ... this is driving me batty.

oh jeez!!!!!!! after all that misinformation they threw at me yesterday,
I finally went in just now, and instead of adjusting to the 2nd addl. category on the first page shown me to do so, i went ahead and clicked on the 'click here if you are having trouble with these listed categories showing properly [or something like that], so i did that, then added the 2nd category THAT way, and proceeded to the 'revise page' and hit 'submit' ... THAT way it worked!!!!! ..... for all of it to have 'looked ok' the other 15 times i tried to add the other category, then hit 'submit' and didn't have success, it is WEIRD that choosing the 2nd category on a 'different' page in your revise area, worked. ................................................. through all my emails to them yesterday, they kept saying i couldn't 'change' the category, and i kept telling them i didn't want to change it, i wanted to add a 2nd category... then they decided to say i couldn't do that either. .... exasperating sometimes!!!!

Aintrich, I never read the announcement that was changing, but did come accross trying to add to description and I couldnt figure out why they werent letting me change it either.

They are changing too much, too fast. Didnt anybody tell them the dot.com era is over and they could slow down now?

Another ebay quirk or twist on adding to an auction description is that if your item has one bid and you cancel that bid and now there are no bids, ebay still treats that auction as if it still had a bid in regards to modifying the auction. Now you would have to either end the auction and start off with a new listing or use the 'add to description' function to modify the listing because of the canceled bid.
