Hi. Can anybody help me translate this:

"Aus iB's und gar iB's und Schad iB's daB's wahr ib." Quote by Carl Orff.

(I tried google translate but all I got was "out, harm, truely " - would like to know what I am talking about in my auctions.)

neroter: ... I don't come up with much with the german translator dictionaries online, but Carl Orff you refer to was apparently a famous person in the music world ... i see some references to people 'teaching' in his style, etc. ... so maybe it's an explanation of a certain tempo or sumpthin' .............. sorry i'm no help. Ach!

Thanks, Aint. Yeah, I saw he was some classical music genius composer or something. Still dont know what the quote is.

Out of harms way or something? If its famous its beyond me.

Post a pic of this so that we might be able to help with the possibility of having the wrong letters in there. The B might be something called (Ess-tset) or often written in English as a double "s"...

Wayne, thanks. Yes, I was thinking that, too. Did try it with other letters. Starting to think its a waste of time, here (got to stay away from European stuff), but here is pic. ty

p.s.: the front of the glass is a picture of the Kloster Andechs where those monks brew their own beer, so I dont know if that has anything to do with it. And I did find out Carl Orff is buried there, so if that ever comes up on jeopardy I'll be sure to have it right!

Here is what I found:

Aus iss und gar iss und schad iss, dass wahr is.
(Carl Orff, aus der Oper "Astutuli", Uraufführung München 1953)

http://home.t-online.de/home/B_Sch/bairisch.htm

Maybe this is a quote from an opera called Astutuli?

Here's that site that is translated:http://tinyurl.com/maq6

I think it might mean something like "Always eating out is truly harmful"

See - posting that pic was a help. That "B" is actually the "double s" as I thought it was....

Just a wild guess... but since this is on something related to beer... I wonder if instead of "eats" the translation should be "drinks" ... maybe something about someone who drinks and drinks and what harm that is?
