I guess this is a vent/rant more than a question.

Ok I put these 2 items up, they are the same, but each are different colors.

I get the same bidder on both at the start bid. Fine. Email him a EOA, then a second EOA, finally do all I have to, and get FVF's back.. never heard a word from him... when I went and got my FVF's ebay NARUed him.

Put them up again, a week later... person bids and wins, fine. Send EOA, then wait, second EOA, then again, do everything ebay requires and get my FVF's back.......I do that, and this GUY IS NARUed also.....

3 weeks later, end the same items (AGAIN) last minute bidder, both items, registered today.

Well... here's the thing.... each 'bidder' had the same ISP.... and when ebay sends their end of auction, and gives the zip, same zip.....!!! austin.rr.com
but of course a different name each time.

Now, I KNOW its the same person..... but there is NO way I can prove it... the items only went for $5.99 each, not enough to call TX for. But this is really bugging me. I know its the same person, because each time he has registered, he bids on the same type of thing... then gets NARU'ed and comes back. When I seen that austin.rr.com, I just went SH*T. Look at his bidding history, which it TODAY only and he is bidding and WON 20 auctions, including my 2 (again....)

So thats my vent... I know ebay is probably too busy to hear this, no real 'dept' to handle this kind of thing... so the only answer is NEVER list these again!

End rant/vent

If you didn't have bad luck you'd have no luck at all.

On the OTWA board Marie of the JayandMarie - one cent CDs seller fame has or had a thread over there about a bidder bidding on hundreds of their auctions over and over again and leaving tons of negative feedbacks. That is the biggest flaw on ebay, bidders can easily mess up a LOT of auctions if they want and ebay has little defense against it.

When they play these little games, there's not much even Ebay can do until such time as they require some type of I.D. to register. That on the other hand, could cause some legit buyers to not register. We all have our stories to tell about some of our best sales happening when two 0 feedback newbies get into a bidding war. Until a perfect solution is reached, about the only thing you can do is use situations like this as a good excuse to go out and buy a bottle of fine bourbon.

Can you block just the last part of an email address i.e. austinrr.com? I know I can in outlook express. If you can no one with that roadrunner address can bid on your auctions but what do you care.

Libra,

I am not sure you can block an entire ISP through eBays blocked bidders thing?

I have had rr but this is probably the only austin one, so at this point, I probably wouldn't care

I've often wondered if it's possible to add a domain to a blocked bidders list. You might try adding *@austin.rr.com to your BBL and see what happens. I would also report all these instances to [email protected]. They might be able to help.

There's no way in hell to block an entire ISP. Think of all the sellers that would block AOL.

Add aol to your list for a week to see if anyone with an aol address bids. That is the most used domain. It would likely reduce your sales for a week, but at least you would know if it does or not.

Also, relist those items NOW, and block this bidders ID. Then if you get payment, change the auction to something else. IF no payment, maybe someone else will bid.

From my understanding you can't block emai addresses anymore, you have to block actual user IDs

You have to treat each and every buyer as a possible nutcase that can retaliate if you treat them in an uncivil manner no matter how much they deserve it. That greatly cuts down on the chances of getting one of these buyers.

The policy of not getting into negative email exchanges over an item is a good policy in my estimation. Be nice, block bidders and move on.

Fenix, yeah, I know you can't do anything with email addresses as user ID's any longer, and I guess? they are going to make it mandatory to have a 'user ID' instead of your email address. I've used my email addy for almost 7 years, I cannot think of a 'user ID' for nothing

stopwhining, no, don't think I can sit by my computer and watches who bids!
And I don't think this guy is a competitor, but he does buy ALL THE same theme; toucans, anything TOUCANS. On all the previous ID's and this current one.

I put in my EOA, to please hit reply and send me your shipping address and method of payment (just recently started that) and haven't heard from him, course its only been a day, but I really don't expect anything.

AuctionAce-I never get into any negative corrrespondence with any bidder/buyers... if they do get 'nasty' in email, I usually ignore them.

And I always file for FVF after about 13-15 days (if they haven't contacted or anything) and EVERYTIME I do, they are NARU'ed... never had to (or able to!) leave neg feedback, because it seems I must be the 4th one to file FVF's on these people! eBay sure is quick on NARUing, once that 4th or more? credit refund is filed!

Yes, I had a situation very similar to NearTheSea's but it was one bidder who was registering new phony bidder names as fast as I could block them one Saturday night. Really got the adrenaline pumping.

Unfortunately, no, you cannot wildcard an ISP in your Bidder Block list.
It would be a very useful feature. I know, for example, some folks would seriously consider "*@aol.com" given AOL's disruptive spam filtering. If enough people blocked AOL bidders, perhaps they'd give up and get real ISPs.

NearTheSea: I reported the situation to SafeHarbor and NEVER got a response. That doesn't mean you shouldn't try; maybe you'll have better luck. Vaya con dios.

Fluffy, that would be an interesting feature for blocked bidders... I don't think I would do *.*@aol.com though, because now, most ISP's (mine does now anyway) let you have 7 email addresses.

I may just try and write to ebay, but there isn't a safeharbor any longer, or is there?

If Ebay is doing away with the .com , .net I.D's it won't do much good anyway!

dadofstickboy: Actually, that's a good point. I *thought* I had entered email addresses in my BB list since the change, but I could be wrong.

Yeah, just made me think, that yes, I have email only bidders on my blocked bidders list, now? I guess when this 'change' comes into effect, those BB's won't be blocked any longer?

Not sure, but I believe eBay said if you don't change by Dec, maybe Jan. they will give a name of their choice for you.
Great

I think the ID change is set for January. Surely ebay will try to convert all of the new IDs and adjust the BB lists but that is a daunting programming task.

What is the evil bidders use one of the free snipe programs? No sitting up on Saturday night will help in those cases.
