Not sure what to do now..help.

I purchased an item on Ebay. 3 weeks went by and it did show up. I emailed the seller to see whats up. I was told due to been very sick they could not ship but my item was now shipped. I checked and they listed auctions every day they were sick...I guess not too sick.

I was given a usps tracking number that did not work. I reported this to paypal and they investigated and I got my money back from paypal.

The item shows up yesterday. It is not NEW as the ad stated...in fact it is broken and used.

I had to pay dutie and taxes on this as well. I am in Canada.

I want to send the item back to the seller collect minus my taxes but I am worried that as soon as I tell the seller I got it they will contact paypal and paypal will debit the money from my account.

I feel like just keeping the item and say tough. The seller has poor business practices!

What would you do?

since the item is used, broken and worthless to you,i would just trash it and not report to seller or paypal.
sounds like your cash outlay is really the canadian customs.which is not included in the paypal refund.

I second the advice to just keep silent. Chalk it up to a bad deal and move on. Once you report this to P.P. you will have nothing but problems as the rip off seller will have your money and all you get is a used and broken item.

As you did not state how much the item price was all I can say is that if it was a low tax or custom fee just write it off. Make sure you say nothing on this board where someone could trace the auction down just to screw with you.

Duties and taxes were only 10.02 CAD.
The item even used and broken (can be repaired) is worth about 50.00usd.

I have a really bad feeling about telling the seller I have it and trying to work something out with them. They have not been honest to this point. I can see myself getting screwed.

trying to work something out with them.

Work what out?? The fact that they lied about the condition of the item would not give me much hope to work anything out. The headache is not worth the time.

Leave it and move on.
