I have this overlay dish but I don't know exactly what to call it. I don't think it's a bride's basket. Candy dish? It's 7 1/4" long.

And this cream, sugar, and tray--elegant glass? Any hints at all about maker? The tray is 8 1/4" long. Thanks in advance.

Heh-heh.

Your second photo looks like Tiara glass, which is Sandwich glass reproductions sold on a home party plan like Tupperware. There's a lot of it on eBay in various colors. It is not considered elegant glass.

First photo is ashtray or candy dish.

The second photo looks to be Duncan & Miller Sandwich Glass introduced in 1925.

Road====

The second is Tiara by Indiana glass co. I have some listed right now in a different color. It doesn't sell for much, at least most pieces don't, but what I have was given to me.

The first photo is like an ashtray, same technique, I still have that my parents bought in the 50's. I have no idea what company though....sorry. Bet someone will know though.

OK, Kiara, I'll bite: How do you tell the difference?

I'm going by the crimped edging on the set as I was told that the Sandwich that was reproduced was mostly smooth rimmed pieces.

But I could be wrong.

Does Roadsmith know how old the set is? Does she have any history of it?

Thanks everybody for your advice! I'm still researching the glass set to see if I can find a pattern match. I do notice that cream and sugar sets with tray are non-existent in those areas so perhaps this will do a little better than average.

I can't date the pieces; I can however say that I got it at one of the two thrift shops in our little mountain town. This particular shop gets most of its stuff from the closing or clearing out of old cabins because of moving or death. I do appreciate your help thus far and welcome any more suggestions or ideas on this set. Adele

Road------

Here are two photos of one of the platters I have lived. Yours are the same Tiara pattern.
Look in depression glass. This is sandwich also.

I looked your clear things up in the book. Price on the creamer is $6, sugar is $8.50, sugar cover $15, but the tray wasn't listed. The prices are for the crystal not any of the colors. Crystal doesn't bring quite as much as the colors but you never know.

Thanks, Paws. Curiouser and curiouser. Just shows how much I have to learn about this whole glass category. I think I'll list it with Depression and Tiara and Sandwich in the title. Anybody object to that?

Roadsmith, the set that you show on that auction you found is identical to the one in my depression glass book.
It shows it as Duncan & Miller.

Some Sandwich glass was reproduced from the Indiana molds and some from the Duncan Miller molds.

Sandwich glass was also produced by Anchor Hocking. This page shows some.

Holy Cow. Next Question!!!! In Ebay, Duncan and Miller is listed under Elegant Glass. Does that make sense? It's not under Depression Glass. I may double list.
