Or so I was told by an outfit called "Portable Paradise". They sent me a link to click to claim my prize. It took me to a page where I should fill out my shipping information and oh, by the way, I'm required to pay for shipping costs and, oh, we cannot accept credit cards at this time, so I need to enter my debit card information right HERE, including expiration date and PIN.

I laughed till the tears started flowing.

Wonder how many suckers will fall for this one.

fluffy,

way too many people fall for this trick. a co-worker received this type of thing through the mail some years ago. only $180.00 shipping to receive a $4000 grandfather clock! what a deal!

you know what happened next, she sent payment, no clock ever appeared.

these type of gimmicks make easy prey out of naive people who expect something for nothing.

on the other hand, another co-worker followed a link to a movie/music site to enter a contest for a dream house....lo and behold she received a call saying she had won $10,000. She thought it was a joke even after she received the affidavit to sign. The check arrived by registered mail 30 days later.

god, I love spell checker, thought sure affidavit was wrong. LOL!

Congrats, fluffy. I'm sure you are going to hurry up and send them all that personal information. Oh, brother, what's next? You do know I'm kidding, right? Hey, maybe I'll win a car or something. I'll keep checking my inbox.

There's a large percentage of Americans that still want nothing to do with the internet and the scams help reinforce their belief that they are are correct to shun the evil internet. I suppose the scams went on back in caveman days though.
