When one receives a Paypal payment is their a way to view the source of the funds. Can you find out if the buyer paid by credit/debit card, or through funds in bank, or through funds already in Paypal account? I see some sellers saying that they will not accept Paypal payment if paid by credit card,......how would you know?

i think the seller has a presonal account,so when someone sends a cc payment ,paypal will ask the seller to accept or deny the payment.to accept the payment, the seller has to upgrade to premier or business account.
may be others can confirm or clarify this.

whining...you misunderstand. I am a seller, with a premier account. Is there a way for me to see the source of funds from my buyers? If not, why do some sellers specify no credit card payment through Paypal. How can they tell if it's credit card or not?

A seller with a personal acct can know the funds used.. as if they pay with a credit card, the seller has to accept or deny the payment. No money has gone in to the sellers acct.
If they state no credit cards then the payment has to be made with funds from within their paypal acct or echeck or instant transfer from bank acct.
If buyer makes payment by paypal funds the transaction says "complet" next to it.If by credit card, it will say, accept or deny.

Hope that helps.

point, sellers with premier or business account have no way of telling if buyer uses paypal fund,or credit card.
why do you want to know??
are you concerned that your buyer will file chargeback with his credit card company??

This is why I stopped accepting paypal, because I had to deny all the credit cards.
I am now thinking I should accept paypal, but with no instant links in my auctions, so I can offer it, which I have been doing via my eoa notices, with some success.
But I wonder if I am shooting myself in the foot not accepting it, esp with the low low cost items I am pushing right now!! (like a slow boulder up a steep hill!)

whining...yes, of course it's chargebacks that I'm concerned about.
..
.

wrightracing...thank you for the clear and concise answer.
,
.
.Now, is it possible to have 2 Paypal accounts. I already have the one premier account. What hoops do I need to jump through to add a second personal account.
..
.
.And does this whole source of funds issue make a difference.......I'm assuming it does.......we know what can happen with credit card chargebacks, but if someone pays by bank account or existing funds is this now a payment that's as good as gold.

you cannot have more than one paypal account.but you can add more email addresses to your existing account.
if they pay you with existing paypal fund or e check, they can only complain to paypal under paypal buyer protection program.
if it is a large sum, paypal will restrict that much from your paypal account while it investigates the complaint.
if you have no fund in your paypal account, then there is nothing to restrict.
however if paypal deems you are at fault, then it will debit your account, any furture payment made to your account would be used to reduce that debit balance.
of course what will make paypal do that since paypal does not get involved in quality issue,it would have to be (1) you cannot prove delivery by producing an online trackable delivery confirmation number (2) if over 200 dollars,no signature receipt.

to make the payment as good as gold, why not ask him do a wiretransfer, once the money landed in your account, there is no way he can get it back.

From the paypal website:

Q: Can I have a Personal and a Premier/Business account?

A: Yes. You are allowed to sign up for one Personal account and one Premier or Business account. Each account must have a different email address, bank account and credit card.
