I don't use ( and never have used) Vendio check-out. All the same, apparently the name "Vendio" at the end of my auction has scared away this potential bidder!
From a question to seller:
"Sorry, I really like your postcard and would bid. However, I see you use Vendio which I previously have had nothing but trouble with when I want to pay. The other adds said they took personal checks also but when checkout came, Vendio ony accepted Paypal. Sorry no Paypall. I will delete you from my watch list. "
Of course I replied that I don't use VD checkout etc but I wonder how many others have been scared away by the prospect of having to use Vendion check-out merely by association!???

You mean this one buyer had a problem. Well maybe consider yourself lucky and maybe the buyer was the problem. There are many sellers that probably use Vendio checkout and only take paypal and she just happened to hit one of them. Since she doesn't like PayPal then she must not have read the TOS of that seller.

Who knows? I just didn't like to hear that I might be potentially losing sales because of the name of the listing/image hosting service I use! Like it or not, all Vendio sellers are lumped together in some buyers' minds!

I know I run from auction works listings because 99% of them require checkout. I never bid on auctions where the seller won't take care of the address label himself and requires me to jump through hoops to make it easier for him.
Don't jump in there defending checkouts, that's not what this is about. Like it or not, there are buyers out there, like me, who just don't like it and never ever will.

The assumption being that this was a buyer in possession of a mind....
Odds are that this buyer was a webtv user...and nature has singled him/her out for extinction..
Fact is there is not a single pixel displayed on the www that you cannot find someone for whom its very existence is an abomination...PayPal, eBay, Vendio, for entities such as these, quasi-religious movements erupt; each decrying the utter awfulness of these businesses.
People like this assume that their experiences are absolute...and absolutism is a plague.
"I won't be wronged, I won't be insulted, and I won't be laid a hand on. I don't do these things to other people and I require the same from them."- John Wayne/The Shootist"(from the novel by Glendon Swarthout)

It is not just Vendio that scares people away.
There are buyers that associate all kinds of things which causes them not to bid, or at least tell you they are not bidding.
This person probably would not have bid anyway, but he saw your auction and thought he would throw his complaint to you since he was still mad at the past seller, who happened to be using Vendio.
The problem he described was not a Vendio problem. If the buyer can not separate a Vendio problem from a past seller's problem, then that is his problem.
It scares me NOT AT ALL to have Vendio associated with my auctions.
If it scares away problem bidders, then I might even like it more.

About the only complaints I've received from using the Checkout Form is..."Why do I have to do this because I've already emailed my address to you once" or they've used eBays checkout. But on the other hand, I've had people say that they loved the checkout and one woman said it was even fun! I've filled out checkout forms when purchasing items and it didn't bother me one bit. I think some people feel that if they fill out a checkout form, that their email address goes into some spam folder or that we are stealing their identity or something. Who knows...you get some good and you get some bad, but you just keep plugging away. Can't please everyone I suppose.
But I'll keep using Vendio's checkout because about half of my buyers will use it and it sure helps to speed things up for me.

I give them the option to use checkout. The one thing I hate about checkout is the "comments" or "memo" section for a bidders checkout. Most just say, "thanks" or something like that, so mostly I ignore them, but occassionally someone asks me a question using that. So, it makes it inconvenient. The best thing I use checkout for is to double check the shipping address.

Now that I read this thread again I think all of you are right. I may not like some auction listing services, or some sellers TOS, but I would never sit down and write them an email to tell them I didn't bid on your item because....
Definitely a bidder you were better off without

Actually, I have written saying why I would not bid on their auction. Sometimes it is something that I want, but maybe they charge to accept paypal, or their shipping is unreasonable. I do like to let them know they are losing business.
I don't know if I would be happy to possibly lose customers because of checkout. It's easy to say they are a problem customer, but you have no way of knowing this is a problem customer with the info given.
I also don't like checkout as a bidder, and have not bid on auctions that announce the process is automated.

Even thopugh I use Vendio for listing my auctions, I never use them for invoicing. Why? because too many of my items are shipped by FedEx Ground & I can't give a shipping cost until I have the buyers Zip Code. I use eBay's invoice. OIt really works great for me.

I was going to use PayPal WBN but then I pondered it as I was writing the notice and decided if someone takes the time to bid on my auction and win then they deserve to hear from me personally.
In the area where is says Your Payment instruction to buyer: I say: I will send you a personal email after I receive eBays EOA notice, which will be within 2 hours. If you wish to pay instantly by PayPal, please wait for my Winning Bid Notice for instructions. Thanks
I know this is wordy also but I feel personal contact is better that any check out.

I immediatly put them on my BBL.

2- It saves them from having to send annoying Email in the future.
When I run into something I don't like I go to the next.

Keep blocking those bidders! If you are unreasonable I probably would not bid anyway. If it is a real question, then I guess your competitors get more business.
By the way, I NEVER contact bidders with the ID that I would actually bid with, and I am sure I am not the only one who does this as well...Blocking wouldn't do a thing here...

I'm with dad on this one. I occasionally get a verbose gripe about Vendio's checkout. I don't bother to respond to the bidder providing they have filled it out and block them from future auctions immediately.
If I wanted to deal with them one on one I would have chosen being a therapist as a profession.
More frequently customers seem to like the checkout or don't mention it one way or the other.

Actually, I am more INCLINED to buy from a seller with a Vendio or other auction software than a bare bones EBAY ad. Kinda shows to me it's a serious seller who has invested some money in his/her presentation and will be around awile.
(I dont use the checkout because I never took time to figure it /or lay it out, so wouldnt expect the buyers to.)
