I am in the process of creating my own website to sell my items in.
Am I allowed to mention the website in my Ebay auctions ? or on the "About Me" page ?

For those of you with websites, what do you do to publicize them ?

Thanks in advance for your responses.

Yes, you can provide a link from your "about Me" page. You cannot link from your auctions, though. I have seen people write their website addresses in their auctions, also. We advertise through our About me page and our Store banner is our website banner. Hope this helps, cramer

Another good idea is to place a clickable link to your ebay Me page in each auction listing and on the Me page place a clickable link to your website. There are a lot on new ebayers that do not know about clicking on the Me icon and the easier that you make it for them the better your chances of getting visitors to your site.

wonder how many people actually look at the "about me" page-I've been on ebay 5 years and never looked at one

FloridaShark:

Quite a few of the sellers I buy from include a hot link to their store or website in their "Thank you for your payment" note. When those notes come in it assures me they've received my payment, and gives me another opportunity to check out more of the items they offer. After all, I've already bought from them, so they have a pretty good idea what I'm looking for, and I'm pretty sure they will have other items along my lines of interest. Plus, if they combine shipping, the chances are I will find something to ‘toss into' my current order/wins.

I received one such "Thank you" note this morning, clicked on the sellers store items (which I hadn't looked at before) and ended up placing snipes on four more auction items, and bought one BIN. Her descriptions are thorough -- and honest, her shipping rates are fair-to-the-buyer, and she carries many of the type items I like.

Perhaps this will be another route for you to ‘advertise' your new web page.

Good luck!

Pat

Just had a thought !
If I were to leave feedback for everybody saying something like -

Fast Payment, Thanks. - for more widgets visit www.widgets.com

Is this against ebay rules ?

There was a similar thread here recently where someone asked if they could post their website url in the feedbacks they left. I'm too lazy to look it up on the Vendio Message Center search engine though.

I have to agree with you with the about me page, that seems like a real waste. I don't look at them either (unless someone points out an absurd one in this forum)

You can't list it in your ebay auction of course, but put the website in the winning bid notice, and also put it on your invoice as well (printed invoice)

It's against ebay's rules to leave your website url in feedback as it's considered a static link.

Links - Feedback comments may not include pictures, JavaScript or links of any kind.

Not as many people as I'd like visit my about-me-page- but the counter says 2,282 visitors. That's better than no visitors, anyway...

Is it against ebay rules to have a link that say something about visiting your website in the auction that goes to the about me page?

Like this: (but go to the "About ME" page instead of just ebay)
click here to visit my website
