Just Trying to figure out why Sellers misrepresent there items when it comes to the condition of the item.
They say Great Condition, but when it arrives there is so much wrong with it that you needed to be blind not to see it.
I was lucky with the items I purchased on Ebay, I had Good honest Sellers.
But my sister n law bought 6 items from 6 different Sellers and 4 of the items were misrepresented as to Condition. So now to request a refund and send the items back is a costly process, so at the end you have no item but you just spent $6.00 and up on shipping for each item which cost now $24.00 on avarage and you have NOTHING to show for it.
WHAT TYPE OF FEEDBACK WOULD YOU LEAVE TO A SELLER WHO DOES RETURN YOUR MONEY, BUT YOU PAY SHIPPING BACK TO THEM. AND THEY DID NOT DESCRIBE THE ITEMS CONDITION CORRECTLY.
Would you leave a positive and make a neg. statement in a positive feedback?

If a seller misrepresents the item, especially the condition, I would again almost DEMAND a refund with shipping included.
Tell the seller(s) that when the item's condition is misrepresented as much as you claim, then they sold an item that was not as described.
That is not ethical on Ebay.
You can report the buyer too...but wait till it's all said and done.
Since they apparently misrepresented, then the buyer is entitled to a full refund including shipping charges.
Give the seller one last opportunity.
If your sister gets no results, then a negative may be warranted.
Just remember, the seller may leave one for your sister too.

Auction item condition is highly subjective. One person's 'very good' condition is another person's poor condition. Many sellers will not give a refund and they hardly care about a new negative. Ebay is an auction and an auction is a crapshoot when it comes to used items. That's the hard reality of the situation.

Following up on Ace's comments;
If they stated NEW or Gently used, and it appears to be at best, fair, and used very much, wear and tear definitely showing, then I would say they misrepresented.
What exactly did the seller state about the condition AND how was the item once received?

It is a very subjective Point of view.
It may help to only buy auctions with pictures and if your not satisfied with the pictures you see, ask to see more.
But if you feel that strongly about it as if you have wasted your money; leave the comment you feel as a neg or a neutral. What else could anybody tell you?
edited to add: Or write the seller(s) and ask for a partial refund less shipping the item back. If they are willing to do that, at least then you wont feel so disgruntled. But if as you say, "you'd have to be blind" not to see the discrepancies, you may have to chalk it up to live and learn and be more careful next time you bid.

4 out of 6 sellers??
your sister in law needs to hone her skills on ebay buying, take a good look at the picture and the description -ask questions and ask for more pictures, read their feedback and say adios.
some sellers deliberately take lousy pictures to hide the condition.
or too busy to answer emails.
the only way to protect yourself is to bid what you are willing to lose.
you have to kiss many frogs and never find a prince, thats ebay for you.
as for getting refund for shipping and getting paid for shipping back to the seller, think getting invited to star in that show what do you call it-fantasy island where your fantasy comes true!!

On each item the pictures were clear, but only one picture was posted. The conditions on each item was listed as GREAT CONDITION, but when they arrived the evening bag had been riped away from the frame of the purse and the gold mesh was all worn off and scratched, which this problem didnt show up in the auction picture.. on the other item the gold mesh was all worn through to the silver and the clasp didnt close right.
There was another item a key case that was listed as having ONE tiny stain on the lining, which turned out to be completly stained on all of the lining and rust all around where you hang your keys,This was listed as "one tiny stain, but great condition..........Then there was a purse which stated GREAT CONDITION, just a tiny rhinestone is missing which can be replaced, there was 33 stones the man said,. He was able to see all the small stones and count each one but when it came to saying how bad the condition of the gold mess was he couldnt see that?............never did he mention how worn out the mess was, but he did say...........Condition is Great! except for one stone missing.
Now none of these Sellers offered to pay shipping back to them, and this problem was because they misrepresented there items.
She was happy to be receiving her total payment back, but the fact still stands that it cost money and time and you sit with nothing in your hands.

Now, the Question being asked was:

I would not leave any feedback.
At least until the seller leaves it.
That's just my opinion.
At least you got the money back for the item?
If your sister wants a negative, then go ahead and leave one too.
Unfortunately, all is not fair.
The seller should have refunded completely if she/he totally misconstrued the description. Not much you can do about that.

why bother to leave feedback if your sister is going to leave ebay for neiman marcus??

I love these "second hand/intermediary friend/family in law" posts.
Can you explain why you don't have a problem buying on Ebay but your sister in law does.
My guess is she's too darn picky. How else could you explain that she's always targeted by crappy sellers and you are not.
Does sister in law know how to find www.vendio.com ??. Get her over here.

targeted by sellers??
her sister in law is attracted to items in GREAT CONDITION!!

stopwhining.......right now i cant stop lmao, and why? well she comes over tonite with a Gold Bracelet she just bought on Ebay and she tells me that the Girl said it was Solid 14K Gold, but it is hollow............now she asked me to write a letter to the Seller telling her she misrepresented her bracelet and that she does not want it because it is not solid like it was said to be.
As you say it stopwhining,....its time I tell her also to go to Neimen marcus.........lol
horsey, I did show her this thread tonite and she also got a laugh,....you guys are great she said. but she also said, .......so what do I do .......don't leave any of them feedback???..........I said, "Well for one thing stop buying from Ebay, cause I dont have time to fix all your problems".......she is faily new as a buyer but dam, this is always happening to her not just these few times but most of the time.

Yes, Please do us sellers a favor and tell her to stop buying on ebay.
Do tell her that this Firday is a BIG shopping day with lots and lots of sales. She can start shopping at 4am and shop ALL day til 9pm or she drops...LOL
Have a nice Holiday.

I think what happened to her was terrible and everyone is making a joke out of it. Seller's that misrepresent their product have no business selling on eBay, but try and keep them away you can't. How did she pay the sellers? If through paypal with charge card she can probably do chargebacks that is if she hasn't sent the items back.
Horsey says "My guess is she's too darn picky." If the flaws are as bad as tonimar says that is not being pickey when seller says in good condition.
What I do have to tell her is that remember Vintage does not mean new, It has always been used and if she want's the items then she has to write the seller questions and question what that seller means by good condition. Good Luck to her.

Japerton's Rule of Bidding:
1)If it's photographed on he kitchen floor...run screaming from the auction (I don't know what people are thinking!)
2)Nothing is usually as in good of condition as it says unless...
3)There are photos to support it. (but you will have to bid against people to get it!)
4)Anything that says Great Condition means just that: It's in great condition according to the seller!
And that's the rub!
So lesson learned and time to lay down the feedback, eh?
Also, don't be shy about asking for more photos! Details!
People have lived with this item, they have looked at it long enough to not really seeeeee it.
Customer is seeing it for the first time, and seeing it at a major disadvantage: Not in person!
If people can't be bothered to get a decent photo up or whatever decent amount of detail a total stranger will need to buy the item, then as a bidder I am moving along (unless it's a pristine MD 50mm 1.2 that everyone has ignored, but me!!!! Oh, and going for $30!!! bwahahahahahahha)
Liveinjeans said if first and best: If the item is misrepresented, then start letting people know!
J
Forgive the ramble...I've gotten the ol' nasty box-o-rocks from some sellers, it sucks! But I have also gotten refunds on "No Refund" sellers.
