Help! First, I uploaded an additional photo into a current auction, then mistakenly uploaded the SAME photo into another current auction.

How can I delete the picture just from the wrong auction? Ebay's site map is no help at all.

You can edit the auction (revise title & description) and delete the URL or replace with another.

Thanks, Neglus. But only one photo shows in the URL location in the revise auction page. Don't want to get rid of that one, just the wrong other one. Does this make any sense?!?

how did you add the other one? Do you use Vendio? If so, it must be embedded in your description someplace.

Yes, Vendio is my picture host. I've now eliminated the offending picture from image hosting and manage images and it's STILL in the auctions! When you say "embedded," do you mean the url is somewhere in the big description box? (This is awfully frustrating. And I frustrate easily over technical stuff!)

Hi all,

Adele, which auction is it?

Oh, yeah, have you refreshed the auction page? It could be you're seeing an old version that still has the picture you don't want...

Also, to change a picture URL other than the one at the top left corner, you do need to go into the description text. It's not an easy to find field, in my case, it's pretty far down at the bottom.

P.S. Email me if you want.

yes..the url for the photo is somewhere (depends on which template you are using) in all the html write up of the template etc...you can scroll through and find it and then just delete the "http etc ending with .jpg" but you'd better be a speed reader

After you delete an image through the "delete image" feature in Vendio it takes awhile to disappear. Make sure you purge your temporary internet files to get a "new" view of your auction.

If you go into revise and click "revise description" you will find the html for all the photos in the description box, either before the actual description text or after, depending on which template you are using. Find the line with the offending photo filename and delete it out, being careful not to delete anything else. Once this is saved and submitted, that picture will be gone from your auction. If you have already deleted it from image hosting and it's still showing up, you are viewing a cached page. Clear your cache and it should disappear. It will now be safe to upload that photo again so it will appear in the desired auction.

Thanks, everybody. I cleared my cache and the pictures disappeared from the auctions (a box appeared saying temporarily unavailable). I then uploaded again the picture I wanted in the one auction, and it appeared in both auctions again.

I looked in the item description boxes and couldn't find the offending picture to unembed it. I'll look again. Sigh.

Whew. Again, thanks! Nothing is easy for me when it comes to technical stuff.

I found the offending picture in the item description box and deleted it. Saved changes, submitted changes, etc. etc.

Still there, but maybe I should wait a few minutes.

Edited to add: I just figured out a short cut to finding your image in all that html: hit "ctrl" (bottom left corner of keyboard and then the letter "f"...you should get a search box...type in your Vendio user name and keep hitting "find next" until you find it!

Deleting it from the item description should immediately delete it (should be gone when you 'preview' changes).

I don't know where the image is in other templates..I have mine centered in the top of each auction. The image url is right above the main part of the description...

here's what the stuff around it looks like:

<table width="100%" border="0" cellspacing="5" cellpadding="5">
<tr align="center">
<td colspan="2"> <img src="http://imagehost.vendio.com/bin/imageserver.x/00000000/neglus/35hpj01saugatuck.jpg"
ALT="Image Hosting by Vendio"> </td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td class="description" colspan="2">

** delete all of the bold html..in the end you will just have "<td colspan="2"></td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td class="description" colspan="2">"

Of course it will be different for you..I know it's a pain in the keester and the only reason I know how to fix is that I have made a few (LOL DID I SAY FEW??) mistakes along the way!

DANG IT I CAN'T REMEMBER HOW TO MAKE THINGS "BOLD" HERE I GUESS!

You'll have to clear your cache again. If you deleted the line of html that pointed to that picture, it'll be gone. Trust me!! I've screwed up enough times by tagging the wrong pic for an auction that I can almost do this in my sleep Be sure you remember how to do this. The only alternative is to end the auction and then you lose your listing fees unless you file for a refund. It's easier to edit the code than it is to get money out of Ebay

How do you file for a refund on your listing fees?
If you re-list the auction after fixing the mistakes, the fees will automatically be refunded for the re-list if it sells.

That's correct. The fees on the RELISTED auction will be refunded if it sells. But you'll still be out the fees for the original ended auction if you don't file for a refund. File for a refund on the ended auction and recreate thee auction and list it as an original. If it doesn't sell, you can relist it and get the relist fees refunded if it sells.

You guys are THE BEST BUDS!!!! I finally succeeded in getting rid of that stupid picture. It was a jadeite plate added to the end of a pair of Smoky Bear earrings!!! Looked really stupid.

Speaking of which, I appreciate that you all patiently helped me without making me feel like an idiot. I hope someday there's something out there that I know and can share with you. I feel like a taker instead of a giver most of the time here!

I think the reason I couldn't find the picture code is that I didn't realize the item description gobbledygook only showed the left half of itself, and I had to scroll to the right to see where the rest of the lines were. Once I did that, I figured out which lines to delete.

Anyway, thanks a million, y'all. I can sleep easy tonight without fretting and stewing.
