I saw a site at http://www.feesplitter.com. This site splits the paypal fee and adds 1/2 to the buyer, then sends the total to Paypal for processing. Has anyone heard of this and/or are members? I am thinking about joining as it's only 99 cents/year but I just want to find out if anybody else has any knowledge before purchasing? I wonder if the buyer will mind to pay 1/2 the fee? I think that I am going to try it.

I looked at their site.

$10,500 month in sales, 750 items, save $105.

Get 75 negs, lose 75% of potential bidders when they see they have to pay more than what they bid.

Get negative feedback and non-payers when people realize what you are making them do after they make the purchase.

Win Win?

I do not think so.

You go first and let us know how it goes. It is only 99 cents a year. Right?

This may be a paradigm shift but I could save a bunch of money if I just cut half of that cost. If my competitor's did not do it, I could have an advantage. I may try it and see if it pisses my buyers off.

2 questions.

Since it most definitely will piss off eBay to mention a surcharge in your TOS how do you plan to notify the buyer they'll be paying half the PayPal fees? In the EOA notice?

Since this is your first post on this forum and you just joined today, I'm curious where you heard of feesplitter.com. Did you just stumble on it by accident?

A fellow ebayer sent me the link and I was just curious whether or not the concept would fly with buyers. I had never seen it before today. It seems like a good idea but I could see where if it was not published plainly that you could piss off your buyers.

Nice Pic. I think this guy has been around for about 65 years.

Should be old enough to know not to show up on on a thread like this.

I just read through the site..that is the craziest (I wanted to say something else) thing I have ever heard of. As a seller, I cannot imagine trying to get buyers to go through the checkout. As we know, most don't read anyhow. As a buyer, I wouldn't touch it. That's the cost of doing business. I'm sure those of you that own a b & m store wouldn't add on some silly charge for processing the payment. "oh yeah", that will be $1.50 more for taking your money." UUUGGHHH

Yup, he uses the same name here as the administrative contact and technical contact of the domain.

Noland, we are way too smart to fall for spam like this. Next time you have to be smarter than us.

Wouldn't that be considered charging a paypal surcharge and get you suspended from ebay and/or paypal?

David,

Now that everyone has looked at the registry of feesplitter.com and seen the contact email address it's probably best to try your sales pitch somewhere else. You really screwed up even the slimest chance of a sale here on Vendio.

Even if your shill post wasn't so blatant you'd have had a tough time selling your product. You're product is a very flawed idea, not as flawed as your sales pitch method, but close.

Why waste 99 cents to have the buyer split the fees. If you could find a way to legally get the bueyr to pay half the fees why dick around with a middle man.

Especially one that's naive enough to think he could pull the wool over our eyes with bogus. "I saw a site" post.

I have signed up for the 30 day trial.
Will try and see how many of my buyers I can piss off in a month

And If do buy the service will I have to split the Paypal fees on my subscription ??

From the user agreement:You are required to charge a handling fee of 1.5% + 15¢ to the sales of all goods and services regardless of the buyers payment method, including money orders or other online payment services, for as long as you are a member. PayPal will not process payments in which a surcharge is imposed, however, PayPal does allow users to impose a handling fee provided this fee is applied to all other payment methods offered by the seller.

The folks paying me by bidpay,Check and money order will be just thrilled to hand over another 1.5%+15 CENTS. Does anyone know how I can notify them of this before the auction ends ??

I was thinking about splitting the PayPal fees retroactively on my past auctions, and seeing how many of my past customers I can piss off. I wonder if I will have to pay an extra 99 cents to David before I can start billing?
