I searched back to 9/7/03 and found this year old thread brought back and posted on by StoneCold. Bringing up old threads is a very bad thing to do as it is very easy to confuse them as most people only scan the dates very rapidly or not at all. This MAY be the source of the 12/26/03 FLD although it does not mention " Appreciation Day ".
Any posts about the " Appreciation Day / FLD for 12/26/03 " could not to be found and could have been edited out by the original poster.

Since FLD are traditionally on Thursdays I predict that this years will be the 31st - I'm not betting on it and I could very easily be wrong but that's my guess.

If it's really "common" sense, why do so few people actually have it?

Is the 31st not a Wednesday?

auctionACE But I did not see the notice on this board but on the e-Bay Announcement board and in the right hand column in a little square box a couple of months ago. Now you have me wondering if I was hallucinating.

What I saw was a post here that had a link to the ebay announcement page and the announcement there. Someone on another board suggested that ebay accidently leaked the annoucement and then deleted the info from their announcement board quickly so that only a few people actually saw the FLD announcement. I hope they only tried to cover it up and have not decided to not do the FLD at all.

cover it up and have not decided to not do the FLD at all.

that is 'not decided'. I want the FLD very much.

ebay could have decided not to do the FLD and that would disappoint a lot of sellers. If ebay does have the FLD and 10 million items get listed and only 1 million sell then that will also disappoint many sellers.

A similar thing happened with Yahoo Auctions and their FLDs. The selling rate dropped on each FLD down to a point where very few sellers even bother to list on their FLDs anymore. Of course that is the dead Yahoo Auctions and not ebay.
