I am looking to up grade my cell that I use for my personal business. My service provider will not cut me on the two phones I was interested in. Anyway I was looking on Ebay and found a few good deals but I want to know the pros and cons of buying off of Ebay. Any advice.

I've purchased phones twice on Ebay. I bought them for my kids when they started driving. They haven't seemed to have any problems with them. Just make sure your service provider services that particular phone.

especially when the contract is about to be up.. they usually offer a free phone or money back on better phones when u say you'll cancel.. etc.

anything to get you to stick around for another 2 years.

anyway thats no help to the question. sorry. its just I find that buying cell phones individually without a plan attached to it really cost a lot of money.

On eBay: Make sure its new and not refurbished. Check with your service provider before you bid. Read all the auction fine print. You may find you need that * to work.

ubid has good deals and you can purchase a service contract if you want.

My two cents........

Some phones can't be activated because there's a balance due account linked to them. It would be a good idea to check with the seller in advance. Have them give you the old phone number and call the provider yourself.

I sold my old phone on ebay when I upgraded. One of the problems it had was the battery was not holding its charge very well - I disclosed this, but not everyone would. I would never buy a cel phone on ebay!

I sell my old phones on Ebay when I upgrade.
Never had any complaints.
Make sure there is no balance due on phone, if there is it will need to be paid before they will activate.
Ask seller batt cond.,physical cond. such as LCD and frame, button functions.
If phone is in good working cond. make sure it is a phone that can be used with the company you want to deal with.
New ones, Old ones, really doesn't matter they will all last if not abused.
The only thing is they become outdated like computers.
