#1 sounds like Through the years
Through the years, you've never let me down
You turned my life around, the sweetest days I've found
I've found with you ... Through the years
I've never been afraid, I've loved the life we've made
And I'm so glad I've stayed, right here with you
Through the years

edited to say - I found it!!!
After All
after all you were perfectly right
but I'm scaring close to insanity
and on a night like this
nothing stays the same
nothing looks the same
after all you were perfectly right
though our relation just split me in two
and on a night like this
pieces fall apart
visions fall apart
after all you were perfectly right
I have never been happy before
and on a night like this
you can hear the words
see behind the words
after all you were perfectly wrong
though I thought I'd found love
and on a night like this
nothing could be worse
nothing could be worse

On second thought, I don't think so now - there are parts of it that sound like "You and Me Against the World" - this verse...
When one of us is gone
and one of us is left to carry on
remembering will have to do
our memories alone will get us through
think about the days of me and you
you and me against the world
you and me against the world

Or maybe I am just tone deaf

When I played the 2nd one my cat cried and jumped off my knee and sat under my desk crying some more. This is a cat that seldom cries! I don't think she liked it.

Mine just looked at me for a second then went back to sleep - I think they were just glad it was not the regular morning blasting of Save Ferris.
