Hi. I got this plate marked Lamberton China, made for the Queen City Club, furnished by Dean Kite.

It looks old. Maybe occupied Japan or forties. Anybody know anything about this?

I see a Dean & Kite from google directing to replacements but nothing in there. I also found Queen City club in Cleveland, but so what, ya know? lol.

Any help would be appreciated!

The Queen City Club is in Cincinnati-on Race street-downtown. This is a private club for the upper class or very rich in the city and surrounding areas. The club opened in the middle 1800's and has been going strong ever since. I haven't attempted to look it up so I have no idea why it doesn't show in a search. I live in Fairfield which is about 20 miles north of the city and a friend of mine is a server at the club. I know nothing about the china except for the fact that only the best is used in this club because of the clientele.

Hope this helps.

Well, that was certainly a nice thing to say. I live in Cleveland and don't consider myself "lost". Maybe it's everyone where you're from classicrock000.

There are about 25 patterns of Lamberton china listed My Replacements Ltd. price guide. Most of little value, although one made for NC State College is listed at $100.00 per place setting

At some point in the 20's or 30's Lamberton merged with the Scammell China company. They made only restaurant ware. Some of the pieces, especially railroad china, can bring very big $$$. Lamberton-Scammell was bought out by Sterling in 1954. If you have trouble finding information on Lamberton, try searching for Scammell. Many sources that describe Scammell have useful info on Lamberton also.

classicrock: The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame is in Cleveland. Downtown Cleveland is looking pretty good these days. And I don't live there!

Thanks all for you opinions and advice. I appreciate all of them. I did spend some time searching on this. Did see the Scammell China and Sterling cross references even saw some Regal China references along the way.

Buy what bothers me is the China looked at did not have this marking (one site referenced it in green at 1800-1901 for railroad china -- so am wondering if its a repro?) The other that picques my interest of course, is the "Made for the Queen City Club" Furnished by Dean Kite Co. I know there was a Dean & Kite China Company, but I dont know if Dean Kite Co. was before or after this. Plate feels more of a stonewear that fine china, its heavy so must be resturant ware.

Anyway here pictures if it has gotten anybody's curosity up.

Dean Kite could have been a distributor for Lamberton in that area. None of this stuff was ever sold in stores so it was ordered through restaurant supply companies and regional authorized distributors. In my area, it's not uncommon to see restaurant china from the 40's and 50's such as Wallace with the imprint of Farmers Bros. Coffee on the bottom. They were authorized dealers for Wallace and stocked their products in their Fresno warehouse.
