Okay, okay, before you pin me to the wall, I didn't mean car guys who are old...

Just wondering if anyone can help me ID the year of the logo on this Oldsmobile thing. It's 2 1/4" in diameter and about 3/8" thick.

Wouldn't mind some help pinning down just what it is, either. Could be a radiator cap or even a hubcap middle or a steering wheel insert???

I've Googled my brains out and can't find anything specific or even close.

Tx a bunch,

Lucy

My first car was a 50 Olds and I've had several since then and I've never seen that style emblem before. Is the red area plastic or glass? Also, what does the other side look like?

There's a car guy I know who reads and posts here sometimes but I don't think it's anything like a regular basis.

I'll give him a holler.

Signed,

Mr. Melvin

Hi Sparkz,

The red part is plastic.

Here's the back:

My Dad had a '58 Olds 98 4-door hard-top with a Continental kit on the back. It was lavender and white. What a car!

I Agree, it looks like it could be part of a grill emblem, but it should have pitting from bugs, sand etc. if it had been there very long. I'm more inclined to think it's a steering wheel insert if the cover is plastic. The backside will be the key if a GM expert shows up here.
BTW...I had a 57 Olds 88 when I was in high school. It could out run a CHP cruiser. Don't ask how I know

Mum is right Lucy. It was easy outrunning those Dodge's. The hard part was trying to outrun the Motorola thst was in them.

What you have there is a broken center cap for a mid 80's Oldsmobile locking wire wheel cover. There is suppose to be a spring clip attached where those two round knobs are (the ones verticle from each other). What you have there is worthless.

My one and only ticket in my entire life...

Double-clutched and down-shifted heading into a curve on the old Sepulveda pass. Rear wheels slid into the dirt (just a little tiny bit) and the old meanie LAPD nailed me for 58 in a 35.

He said if I hadn't hit the dirt he wouldn't have stopped me. They took my license away for, oh, I don't remember, a few days per mile over the speed limit, because I was under 18.

I am not an old car guy but my first car was a 57 chevy. Limited edition. Not the one with the tail fin but rather it was, I don't know how to explain it, straight in the back with a look of the 55's. Then I traded that for a 60 chevy Impala Convertable Royal blue with a white top. Loved it. Next, 5 years later I bought one of those cars that Ralph Nader didn't like. yes a corvair and I really liked that car. It was one of the only cars that got aroubd in the great snow storm in Chicago.

WOW! We bought a 1960 Chevy Impala with 4brl & some humongeous hp engine -- 350? 400?

What a great MONSTER! We used to summer in York Beach, ME -- right in front of Nubble Light (Cape Neddick). We'd drive from Philly to York Beach, cruising at 100mph!

NO padded dash! NO seat belts! NO ac! NO chance in a crash

BUT... I loved that monster! It FLEW!

Tom,
It was a 348ci, and yes they flew!
Stonecold,
Is right, it's a wire wheel insert missing the clip.

Life is not a dress rehearsal

Back in the "good ol' days" I had a 1941 Ford. The Iowa HP were driving 1950 Chevy's with that old straight 6. A top speed of about 85, The Ford would bust 100mph, Never got a speeding ticket, but several stop violations for running stop signs.
