Here's the latest "New Policy" for PayPal Premier & Business users. Now what are they sticking their noses into? And what kind of "supplemental" information are they going to require from us?

Here's what I got via email tonight...

U.S. User Business Information

Notice Date: March 4, 2004
Effective Date: April 13, 2004

Effective May 2004, PayPal will require U.S. Premier and Business users who receive more than $2,000.00 USD a month in payment volume through PayPal over three consecutive months to provide supplemental information about their businesses including business categorization, sales venue and business URL information.

I just got that same e-mail. Might be time to investigate paypal's site to confirm this BS. If it is true, all the more reason to dump PayPal.

It's for real. It's also on their Policy Updates page, which you can get to from the left side of your PayPal account page in the What's New box.

SOME SELLERS “might” dump PAYPAL, but most won’t and that leaves those who “dump” PAYPAL, out of it. I would guess 99.9% of buyers will not change services (IF there were someone to change to) just because PAYPAL makes some changes in their requirements for SELLERS.

Since we have a Merchant’s Account for years, far apart from PayPal, and I don’t recall anything about the requirements which PAYPAL is setting forth:

"Effective May 2004, PayPal will require U.S. Premier and Business users who receive more than $2,000.00 USD a month in payment volume through PayPal over three consecutive months to provide supplemental information about their businesses including business categorization, sales venue and business URL information."

Personally, I’d make some screws numbers up, if required to for PAYPAL, as I do not think it is legal to require actual numbers. I recall many, many years ago when we first got our Merchant’s Account, that they wanted some “estimate” of charges per month, but that was about it. We had no idea at that time what to expect in charges, so we just put down a “guess.”

I have absolutely no intention of giving PayPal such information, but many of our customers call us direct with their charges, so we may be able to keep under $2,000 a month via PayPal, if not, we will find a way to entice more to charge through us than via PayPal......

I'LL GIVE PAYPAL/EBAY MY BUSINESS URL - IF THEY LET ME POST IT ON EVERY ONE OF MY EBAY ADS!!!!

If you only use paypal for ebay, don't they already have all this info?
