Hi! I hope someone can help me. I received the email about the new book categories for Ebay and I was just wondering if someone here can tell me what it means to Vendio users? Will this too be automatically remapped? It says something about having to use the ISP numbers or something like that. I am just really confused and I don't want to list any books until I can figure this out. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you, Jennifer

My understanding is that we will be able to either use the ISBN (on newer books) which will fill in all the specifics for us. These auctions will have the same descriptions as the same books listed on Amazon.com .

Or we can select the subcategory from drop-down boxes in the item specifics fields.

As to whether or not vendio already has it re-mapped and ready to go --- I HOPE SO!!

BTW, ISBN stands for "International Standard Book Number". It is a ten digit number assigned to each edition of each book before it is published. I can't remember when ISBN's came about, but it seems it was in the late 1960's.

Sorry I don't know more about the vendio side of the issue. Surely, someone else will know.

I tried relisting some books and I got error messages that didn't make sense. Could never revise the listings to their satisfaction and needed to redo them entirely.

What's the difference between ISBN and ASIN?

Thanks.

I feel disheartened about Ebay's changes in the books categories and have no idea when the changes are official or how they'll affect us. I do know that my occasionally lucky high auctions for old books will probably disappear and I haven't decided where I'll go next to sell my books!

However, one thing I just did tonight: I went to the Ebay Books site and copied the page with all the book subcategories before that page disappears when Ebay eliminates those subcategories.

Seems to me that the subcategories may be good to use for keywords in my book auctions, and I may not otherwise think of all those keywords. You might want to do the same?

What's the difference between ISBN and ASIN?

ASINs Explained

"ASIN" stands for "Amazon.com Standard Item Number." Every item in our catalog (books, music, DVD, VHS, toys, consumer electronics, etc.) has a unique ASIN. The ASIN is the same as the ISBN for books.
