Since I purchased a new computer with Windows XP, about three or four times a week I have problems with not being able to pull up my web pages after connecting. I have dial up and I know the problem is about to happen when it takes forever to dial up and show my Earthlink home page. I shut down for about 45 minutes and then try again and it's fine. Really annoying, though. I had no problems with Windows 98 and Earthlink. Is anyone else experiencing this? I guess my next step is cable.

Download Opera and/or Netscape. The next time it hesitates on IE, back out and try it on another browser. This should help isolate it if it's a browser problem. The next suspect will be your telephone line connection. Don't overlook that 6' line that goes from the modem to the jack in the wall. Just because it was brand new when you got the modem doesn't mean it's any good. Try a different one.
