big guess here...since you are asking this question I'm assuming you have cable modem and not something like AOL?
mine is
mail.myserver.net
smtp.myserver.net
insert whoever/whatever you're using for myserver
the dot's stay where they are - for example:
mail.AOL.net
smtp.AOL.net
also, you will have to sign into your server (whoever they are) and add your email accounts there. Then you will also have to go into "TOOLS" "ACCOUNTS" (highlight your account(s)) "PROPERTIES" and under "GENERAL" check the box that says "include this account when receiving mail or syncronizing"

The only reason you use POP3 is if you want to access our account from a different email address, I think.
Anything I want to do or know I call my ISP for technical help. I guess that is what we pay them for besides hooking to the internet. They are very useful and I am thankful they are there.

I don't know if you were able to do it or not. But if you are still trying to setup your OE through aol, here is the info to set it up.
