I am looking at a way to get past prices.
I subscribe to andales research ebay prices tool. It gives me good data analysis but only goes back 6 weeks.
I am looking for a tool that goes back 1 year or more. eBay sales are cyclical depending on what you sell and when. The last 6 weeks wont tell me what an item sells for at christmas.
Anyone know?
Thanks,
Toben

I list through Vendio and you can only go back for about 4-5 months. I just check on eBay and it is the same. The message you get is not in the database so I imagine they get rid of them. It use to be longer but I think it changed last year.

Ebay has that archived data available. One little problem, it isn't free. Email them and tell them what you need. Have your credit card ready. They will give you whatever you can afford.

If you have access to the API then you can surf back about six months depending on the category and eBay database backup schedule.
We usually do a database dump of our competitors auctions every month or so, so we can identify new trends in products and prices, etc. Makes it a lot easier if you know a bit of perl

Ok, you are stumping this old computer geek with new terms. What is API and what is perl?
I've worked on computers since they had tubes in them and key punched COBOL on cards shortly after it was written. In the navy our head Tech got in trouble in a refit once for repairing black boxes (mostly grey) instead of sending them in.
