I have not been a Trading Assistant.

I was, however, looking to connect with a Trading Assistant in this area. I really wasn't impressed with the selection. Most of them had very low feedback. Their auctions were strictly Amateur Hour. Not the sort of thing to encourage a potential consignee.

That said, I think you *can* make a go of it as a Trading Assistant, but like anything else worthwhile, you really have to work at it. The world won't be looking for you; you'll have to make yourself available to the world by shameless self-promotion.

You don't have to have fancy auctions, but they should at least have sharp, clear photographs, text that is easy to read and please please please keep the misspellings and horrendous grammar to a minimum.

I signed up for that program about 2 years ago. Nothing happened (but I was lazy about telling more about myself than I wanted to do). I was de-registered, somehow.

A year later an elderly lady in our little town calls me; she'd seen my name in the Trading Assts. listings and written it down. Finally decided to call and see if I wanted to look at her collectibles. I said sure, call me your company has left and things are calmer for you. I didn't get her name or phone no. and she never called back.

So--zip, zilch, nada. I may try it again sometime when I've cleared out my own things a bit more!

I signed up 31 days ago. I've had 6 calls - netted 1 customer. WHY? I'm the only Trading Assistant who advertises a Chamber of Commerce affiliation. I asked 6 callers: Why did you call me? 5 said Chamber of Commerce member; 1 your toll free ph#. None called the Chamber to check me out. Of the 8 listed Trading Assistants in my zip code, I've got the fewer feedbacks; and I don't do "All Categories" only antiques, collectibles and business and industrial items. I'd planned to be in New Orleans - even signed up for classes - but I won't be there since I've gotten too busy. GOOD LUCK, Gordie

may be i should put my 8 years of ebay selling to good use-be a trading assistant.
Here's why-since i cannot afford to give away my own stuff below cost,i may as well give away other people's stuff below cost.
