A co-worker of mine sold an item on Ebay for the first time. He already has a Pay Pal account. His winner bidder sent him a copy of an mail from Pay Pal stating he paid for the auction.
When he checks his Pay Pal account, there is no payment in his account.
He didn't receive a notice from Pay Pal that he has been paid. The bidders copy of the email has no comfirmation number.
I told him just to call Pay Pal. What do you think?

First thing I would do is write the buyer and ask him to check his paypal account. In there he will find his transaction. He needs to click on that to see if the transaction went through or if a mistake has been made on it. The only other thing is to get in touch with PayPal.

can you find out from the email what is the paypal URL,does it start with HTTPS://.
also check the email addr,if he mispelled it,you would not be notified.

I just pulled up and email Pay Pal sent me and compared it to the one that was "sent" to his bidder. They do not look the same.

This doesn't sound too good. I think I smell a rat, but they could have paid the wrong account - I had that happen one time.

The item is for $35. The email the bidder forwarded to Alex shows it being sent to his corrected email address. It's sounding strange.

if the URL does not start with HTTPS://,then it is not coming from paypal.
either the bidder has been scammed -going to a website pretending to be paypal or the bidder is the scammer making up the email.
why dont you check to see what else is he bidding on??
