Hey guys, check out Ebay auction #8110254914. New seller does not have a clue. Inexperienced buyers have bid, though. I wonder what they win? One yard of fabric? Auction does not say. Seller is obviuosly confused and should be running a dutch auction. I emailed her (assuming it's a her) politely what was wrong with the listing and offered to help, but no response.
I LIKE the fabric but won't bid on a pig in a poke. Or is that a pig in a bolt?

If I read that correctly the bid is only for 1 yead of the 16 yard bold. So when the auction ends the bidder will pay $72.00 for the 1st bolt. The other bolt will go for $7.00 even if it is 10 yards. That's my take on that and of course I am probably wrong.

It's either a choice auction or a dutch auction. Either way, the price doesn't matter, because it'll probably be shut down before it ends.

Okay, So here's the email I sent her via "ask seller a question" when I found the auction and was disgusted because I liked the fabric and wanted to bid:

Dear oleander407,
Hi! I see you may be new to eBay since you have zero feedback. Please take the below as help, not as criticsim. Your auction is confusing.
The fabric is beautiful, but will not bid because it does not say exactly the one item being bid on. Please refer to Ebay's listing rules.
Particularly, it appears you are offering a "choice" of items, which is a violation. The auction has to be for the complete bolts of both fabrics, at whatever the auction ends at, OR a specified number of yards of both fabrics OR an exact number of yards of one fabric or the other. Meaning, the auction must be for a set number of yards.
Or you can even run a "dutch" auction and offer, let's say, 16 yards at $6.00 per yard OF ONE FABRIC, and the bidders each bid on how many yards they want. So you would have to run two different auctions for the two different fabrics. Email me if you need help. I have conducted a number of transactions on eBay buying & selling.
Good luck,
Patty

Okay, so now she writes back and it makes less sense than her auction did:

OH! Thank you.
Were you interested in any of the fabric? I have had LOTS of questions re exactly what I meant when I listed $6/yd. . . . .so now I know.
Thnx

If she doesn't know what she meant, I sure as heck don't know either!

I think she means " I have received lots of questions", not I have had lots of questions. She is probably getting bombarded with questions to the seller.

rarriffle,
Oh, I see. You are right. I haven't responded to her reply. She still doesn't "get it" that she needs to end the auction and re-list, probably becuase I didn't spell it out for her.
Well, I figure someone will report the auction for "fee avoidance" or "choice" sooner or later.
