Sorry this is kinda long but I have a couple of situations here where I'm in a quandary as to what feedback to leave, if any.
Both items I bought under my secondary ID and both sellers have left me positive feedback so retaliatory FB isn't an issue.
1. Very low $$ item. A couple of bucks total so it's not about money... It was listed in the auction as in new and unused condition. When it arrived it (a booklet) was dirty, scuffed and dog-eared. In pretty bad shape, actually.
I wrote the seller and let her know I was disappointed because it wasn't as stated in the auction. I sent pictures to show the condition. She wrote back a couple of days later saying it was the first time in five years she'd had a disappointed buyer. (Yeah, right...) Asked me what she could do to correct the situation. I said I wanted a refund including shipping and I would return the item if she wanted me to do that, however, I expected the return shipping to be paid by her. This was three days ago and I haven't heard back.
My inclination is to leave negative feedback. I'm not sure when to do that or how to word it, would appreciate your input.
2. The next auction, the items were received timely and were exactly as described in the auction. The seller charged $3.10 for media mail postage. No handling or other fees.
But, when I picked up the package, Greg, my favorite postie, said he really should charge me postage due for Priority mail, $12.15. Seems it was packed in a turned-inside-out Priority mailer. We slit open one end to be sure it wasn't a recycled mailer and it wasn't, it was new and previously unused. Fortunately Greg was joking. The postage difference would have been $9.05. I asked him if we should turn her in and he said it wasn't worth it.
My beef here is I never, ever use Priority supplies for non-Priority mail. The PO provides these things without charge and I'd bet at least part of the recent increase in Priority rates is because the boxes, etc., were being used for non-Priority mail.
So I'm not sure what feedback to leave and I'd appreciate your help.

L:ucy, On #1 I would leave a neg or a neutral. On # 2 I wouldn't leave any feedback at all. I am with you, I never use Priority Mail boxes for anything else.
On the first one, I'd be inclined to neg stating item was not as described. Refund not offered.
On the second, I'd leave it go. Let the post office worry about it. I use old previously used priority boxes for non-priority items all the time although I don't use new ones for that. I wrap them in brown paper. If your item arrived promptly and in good order, I'd leave a positive. Leaving a negative for that will make you sound petty. JMO.

I would email both of them and tell each one what I thought of their dishonest business practices and inform them that you intend to leave feedback in the near future that is guaranteed to make any future bidder hit the back button and avoid their auctions like the plague. Really blister #1 for failing to professionally resolve a legitimate customer complaint. Then, move on to more productive things, like listing and selling. Don't leave feedback for either. With the thought of a neg hanging over their heads, neither will be able to get a good nights sleep for the next 90 days

Neg or neutral for #1, depending on how they respond. Give it another day or two before acting. No feedback for #2...I can see how it could be seen by others as very petty. JMHO

Thanks for the help and opinions.
It hadn't occurred to me it would look petty if I left unfavorable FB for #2.
I do think #1 should get a neg or neutral because of the poor condition of the item and their non-responsiveness. Will wait another day or two, though.

sorry to weigh in with my cluelessness, but I'm trying to understand.
As most responders here; I also believe that #1 deserves a neg, but it's probably worth mentioning the possibility in an email, and seeing the result.
#2 on the other hand is a @#$%^& thief - but it has absolutely nothing to do with you, or your eBay transaction - so I don't know how you can consider giving a neg.
(isn't it against the rules?, this is where I'm clueless)
I would leave a positive, but write something about stealing postal supplies in the comment!

#1 does deserve a negative, but #2 doesn't but she does deserve an email from you about using USPS priority boxes. This seller isn't the first one to use them or they won't be the last. If your transaction meet your satisfaction then you should leave a positive. Your postal clerk was the one who should have charged you because he knew it was illegal to use those boxes. But he let is ride. I am assuming that the postal clerk will think you would email that seller and tell them that using those boxes is wrong and next time the Postal Clerk won't be so nice.
I was at the thrift store the other day and low and behold there were priority boxes forsale for 25 cents.
