I have a question about Proxy Bidding. I set Auction Software on Item 3822984775,
my bid was processed but I did not win. Message I got from Ebay was that I was outbid by Proxy Bid at an earlier time. The person who outbid me had not bid on the item
at all that I could see on the bidders list. Is there Auction Software that lets
you bid in the shadows so to speak? If so,
what is it?? Thanks for the help.
P.S. Where did Fluffy go?? I miss her wonderful sense of humor. She made me laugh
on a daily basis with her comments to things. Her best was introducing your child as President with a silly name.

It is showing up pretty well on my end. You were outbid by goodsjd with proxy bid placed before your bid was placed.

I see what happened. You placed your bid so close to the closing time of the auction that your computer simply didn't have enough time to tell you that you didn't bid high enough and closed the auction.
You bid was at 9:49:59
Closing time was 9:50:07
You were quite lucky that your bid even went through. If there would have been any sort of internet delay, it wouldn't have.

Next time if you want something, make sure you bid high enough to win and leave enough time so you can bid again.

If you place a single bid, your name shows up once on the bidders list.

The time they bid, was earlier than yours.

Do you have questions on how eBay proxy bidding works?

Or were you confused since the winning bidders I.D. only showed up once, above your bid, with an earlier bid time indicated?

I got extremely lucky last night. I was outbid during the last minute of an auction. I placed my new bid at 20:00:41 and the auction ended at 20:00:45. I could not have done that with dial-up. I was actually surprised when I got it!

The lesson to be learned is that bid the amount you are will to pay and bid an odd number. $10.16 instead of $10.00. Not sure why it works, but it does. I think it's because most people bid using whole numbers. I've used that strategy a couple of times.
