For the past two days I have been experiencing a couple of problems that I never had before. First, several times when I have tried to pay by Paypal, I am getting messages that I am not being recognized as the buyer. I am told to log out and then log in again. Secondly, I just got a message that the Ebay site was having a security certificate issue. Does anyone know what is happening?

I had the same problem a few days ago. From the item page I got a message that I was not the buyer. I logged onto my PayPal account and paid with no problem.

The problems I'm having are different but very annoying:

The buyer's ID is given only as his user name, with no e-mail address next to it when the auction is completed. Very cumbersome. I like to print the first page of the auction for my records.

Roadsmith I agree. I print the auction page also. It used to be so easy to send after auction e-mails and now it is a pain. I was complaining about it in another thread. I was told there that if you click on the Customize button you can have the buyer listed by e-mail address. Also I have discovered that the e-mail E-bay sends you after the auction is over has both the E-bay name and the e-mail address of the buyer. I am now writing to my buyers using that page since it fills out the name and subject for you in your e-mail. Just another page to print out!!

stusi, I received that email also. eBay's email never has clickable links in it and I think the one you received has. Don't answer it. What you do is forward that email to [email protected] and they will tell you if it is true or false. Don't cut and paste just forward that email. Then go into your account and see if all your information is correct.

..this is transcript of my converstn RE: bidders' email on listing sheet...dtd 7/04
----------------------------------

Your chat session started.

myoldtoy: email...
-----------------------------

Marqus: Hello, Welcome to Ebay Live Chat. My name is Marqus, how may I help you?
------------------------------

myoldtoy: i have 2 auctions going,[2254838401 & 2254837029] both show bidders' email on my auction description..WHICH IS GREAT...but why does this disappear after auction is over...having that address by winning bidder's i.d. is just as important AFTER the auction, as during the auction...tanks

Marqus: Bidder's email address should not be shown on your item listing page. You can contact them by using the contact member link located on that member's feedback section though.
--------------------------------
Marqus: And you can request the contact information for the winning bidders of your listing.

Marqus: You can request the phone number of another member by following these steps.

Marqus: 1.Click on search at the top of the eBay page, between Browse and Sell.

Marqus: 2. Click on find members directly below the search button.

Marqus: 3. In the Contact Info section on that page type in your trading partners user id and the item number. Once we receive your request, we will send both members an email copy of their trading partner's contact information.
------------------------------
myoldtoy: Sir: that is none of what i am asking...again, the question is: why does bidders' email address show next to the i.d. on an active auction. but disappear from the description when after the auction is closed...tanx

Marqus: Such email addresses should not appear. It sounds like it was a bug that caused such emails to appear, and which have since been solved.

------------------------------------
Marqus: As the seller of a listing, you would only be able to obtain the winning bidder's email address at the end of the listing. You should not be able to see all the bidder's email address.

myoldtoy: well thanks again, but it is example of somethhing that makes no sense to ebayers...at least to me...this info is available to SELLER per bid history sheet...so why can't ebay post this?

Marqus: As I have mentioned, this information should not be appearing for confidentiality reasons. However, it sounds like the reason you can see it is because of a bug. This issue will be reviewed by our tech department.
------------------------------------

myoldtoy: okay, over and out!

You ended your chat session.
--------------------------------
yeah, i did DID end the sesssion..

myoldtoy
-------------------------

Roadsmith: has the bidders' email address been showing on the listing page, next to the bidders' i.d.? i think i read your question correctly, so forgive asking you to be redundant...

Libra63- It was not an e-mail. I would have recognized that as a spoof. These were messages on the ebay site. The security expiration alert concerned me. Does anyone know what is going on with that?
I am also getting e-mails telling me that the seller is shipping to me but the seller is referred to by their real name. I have to try to match up their real name to their seller name to see what is being sent.

Stusi - I had the same thing happen (the security issue pop-up thing) this morning..no idea what's up with that!

I also have had buyers tell me they have had trouble paying through PP because they arent listed as buyer, I have had trouble sending invoices in those cases as well. I also had problems with PayPal when I tried to pay for an auction I won..told me I wasn't the buyer and to relog in (then it worked)..very strange things going on at ebay and not a single announcement to address the issues!

Okay. Using the clickable link to buyer's address in Ebay's EOA e-mail sent to me will work just fine when I sent my own EOA. HOWEVER, if I have to re-contact that buyer, as frequently happens, I have to go into my "sent" e-mail and manually find the original e-mail I sent to get the e-mail address AGAIN.

The customer rep talked to, in the thread above, didn't have a clue about this! That buyer e-mail has always been on my auction page at end of auction! Where has it gone?! I've tried logging in repeatedly and it doesn't show up anyway. Used to be that logging in would make it show up. Verrrrry frustrating.

Road:
i think may be that you understood my question..i cant seem to communicate to the ebay staff...all i want to know is why the bidder's email address is not listed by that bidder's user id ON THE LISTING PAGE OF A CLOSED SUCCESSFUL AUCTION...
-------------
i have 3 auctions with bids and guess, what,?? tonight all 3 now have the bidder email adresses posted right underneath the user id...
----------------
i wont bore you with the second chat that i just had with ebay...it would only confuse and proably make you irate with me for posting the bull...
----------------------------------

the essence was that it was correctly showing the email addresses...then he goes on to say:: "Please know once the auction ends, you will only be able to view the winning bidders email address.."

now does that sound like we are talking about the listing page, or bid history page....wellllllll, duh!?

Yes, I did indeed understand your question to Ebay, and it's my question also. If the e-mail address is now showing on the auction page next to buyer's User ID, that's what I've been wanting to have back. I'll check mine when the current auctions close.
