Whenever I list a particular item this guy emails me some questions, How much does it cost? what does it cost to ship? Do you carry this artist? All the information is in the listing. And no, this guy is from the USA.

I answer him every-time. He never buys. Just wastes my time.

Does this happen to you?

bichy mood today.

When I'm bitchy I act. I would write to this person and explain that you make a living at this so time is money ... every question in his letter is written in the description and all the others he has asked about. Ask him "do you read before you write?" Then I would block him as a bidder on my auctions. Hope that helps hope he goes away... maybe its a teenager!!! hope he grows up!

I think I'd just forward the previous email that you'd sent, including the copies of his annoying questions he has asked before. Maybe he'll get the hint.

His writing style sounds like he is a brain dead.

A few months ago I got two emails from two different people asking me about wholesale pricing. One guy wrote to me through Ebay and the other wrote to me from my site. I think they were fishing for inforamtion. I never heard back from either of them.

I wonder if he has a reading problem or is nearly illiterate. Sees the picture, can't do much with the words in the description.

BUT - then he couldn't do much with your answers, could he? Duhhh. Forget that.

Hello Miss J;
I agree with Meadowlark....he's most likely competition and is trying to glean extra info from your experience that will benefit HIM. Creep!!
Just a word of caution though. I had a buyer who often won 'groups' or 'lots' of merchandise I put up--while I always left feedback, he never did. After the third successful transaction, I sent him an e-mail stating that I appreciated his business, but his lack of feedback might be hurting my other auctions in case people were watching to see if he was pleased with what he'd recieved. Blah blah blah, then I walked him through the feedback process...but he never again bid on my auctions .
On the very off chance you might have a buyer-in-the-making, I'd try responding to him with a 'nice' note stating similar to what Bjboswell had to say. Let him know that you have covered all his issues in the auction listing, and have always answered his e-mails. Then throw it back at him. Ask him why, as you have always replied to him, is it that he doesn't bid? You'll probably either get a genuine reply or never hear from him again. Either way, you can be satisfied that you took the high road and gently, but professionally, asserted yourself. If you choose to contact him, be sure to let us know what happened! Good luck!

silvergirl-heres a buyer who OFTEN won Groups or LOTS of merchandise from you.

Heres a person throwing lots of money your way and your complaining your not getting feedback??? what do you care? they're putting money in your pocket! Feedback is NOT mandatory. If you do like most of us,and leave feedback AFTER they leave it you might find they would leave it for you more often. Heres a person throwing money your way and you have the balls to actually lecture them about not leaving feedback-THEN you wonder why they dont buy from you anymore????-DUH
Your not the brightest star in the universe are you??

Have you checked to see what - if anything he is bidding on??
Why not answer one more email with something like the following
"Hello again Mr XX
The shipping on this item is $$$, as stated in the description.
Thanks you for visiting my auctions but as you often request shipping but have never bid, I was wondering if you feel my shipping is out of line? Your feedback will be appreciated.
Thanks again for your interest in my auctions.

Casual sellers often forget (or never realized) that email has a real cost associated with it.

That's why email should be concise and definite, not open-ended.

No one knows why this guy is doing this; maybe he wants a date. Or maybe he really is the competition. Or maybe he's an old boyfriend who enjoys the thought of hassling you.

The point is that you can't allow people to waste your time. One way to do that is to be firm in email.

1 response, restating the terms of the auction, then no more. If you didn't keep responding, he wouldn't keep emailing you.

Do not ask him any questions; that perpetuates the email cycle and wastes more of your time.

Folks, bidders bid. It's as simple as that. They don't sit in front of their monitors generating email all day long. They bid. This is not a bidder. Don't bother trying to cultivate him.
