I was just checking my auctions this morning. I went to check on an auction where there is a little bidding going on, to discover when looking at the bidding page, Ebay is now showing before the auction ends, the bidders input. Is this new? Or did they just change it or is is a boo-boo? Or is it only open to the seller when she/he signs in? Scratch that! I just checked my bestfriends auctions and I can see what their bidders are bidding.

Can you explain what you mean by this?

Sure, I tried to copy/paste but it didn't work well. OK, if you hit on the bids word on the listing page, the next screen generally shows the bidders but not the amount. I looked yesterday at an auction where I noticed that the amounts were shown behind the bidder's name. This action was generally visible after an auction where you could view what the bidder's highest amount. I called a friend to check on his auctions and he was shocked to see the amounts visible of each bidder's bid. I am making any sense yet. I will try to copy & paste if this isn't clear.

Stone, go to bid history on auctions that have bids, you can see the bids as they happen. Kiara noticed this and had a thread.

Is this a dutch auction. On all dutch auctions, the bid amount will be shown for all to see.

Oh wait, it just clicked on a non-dutch listing, and I see those bid amounts are shown. They always were on dutch items, but never on normal listings until the end of the auction. I wonder how long this will be the case?

Another change is that you no longer have the option to see the email addresses for the bidders. After the auction ends, a link will allow you to see the email address of the winning bidder, along with the zip code.

I just checked some of my items and sure enough, no more e-mail addresses. What's next? No more e-mail addresses at the end of the auction. Ebay is clearly making it tougher to do business on their site. Too bad they have a monopoly.

Apparently they feel that exposing the email addresses of all bidders is opening the door to off Ebay transactions. It's just the opposite for me. There have been a couple of occasions in the past where I found a glaring mistake in a description, or discovered more information about the item that would make a significant difference in bidding, and have had to cancel the auction when there were bids. I would collect the email addresses of all bidders before ending the auction and explain to them via email exactly why I cancelled their bids and ended the auction. I would email them again with the auction number when I relisted it. It's only common courtesy to contact a person and explain why it was necessary to cancel their bid when it was for nothing they did wrong.

Ah! They THINK they have a monopoly,as it gets harder and more difficult to do business many will just pull up stakes and go back to whatever way they WERE doing business before. I have matter of fact. No way do I SELL like I USE to. I started back on the swap meet circuit and I am doing JUST fine Thank you E bay. NO NPB's No EXCUSES, No Filing HOOPS. AND I pay ONE fee and sell all of my stuff to as many people as I chose to. And I can do as much business AFTER paying my fees as I please also. come on over to my place for MORE great deals. All I did was start buying stuff again that sells at regular swapmeets. One hand reaches out for $30.00 for a space and NOT five like selling on e bay. Gi' me, Gi me, Gi me. E bay listing, specials, FVF,,,pay pal, which we ALL know they own.

They will SOON learn the TOUGHER they make this and care LESS about their bread and butter ,THE SELLERS,,,,,,,the quicker there gonna sink. They use to make darn good amount of fees off me. When Will the EVER get it through there insanely THICK sculls,,,,,Without SELLERS they are NOTHING yet they trat us like dirt.

It should be a SNAP to get our fees back from the joy riding NPB'S..........is it? NO! hoops and crap! Most don't even know HOW the NEW and Enhanced NPB system works and E bay LIKES that. And That is WRONG.

They STILL make money whether WE make money or NOT. If their gonna offer refunds , cut the crap and get it back to SIMPLE.

E bay,ya ever heard,KISS.............?

I WOULD say something here but I won't

Rant Completed.

if you go to main Search page and look up your listings By Seller, you still have the option to view 'show bidders email addresses' (viewable for Seller Only)

Aint..That's corect. But it only shows the high bidder's email address, not the underbidder's addresses. Unless I'm doing something wrong (it wouldn't be the first time). I can get the high bidder's address directly off the auction page if I'm using Opera, but not with IE unless I go through search like you suggested. Ebay must have a lot of programmers with time on their hands and have nothing better to do than screw up a function that has worked perfectly for years.
