Okay so I want to clarify (I'm so glad I'm off work tomorrow I think!) ~

I only do Buy It Now through Fixed Prices. That does not count.

But I can do Buy It Now through Online auction and make my BIN and auction the same price and get the half price cost, correct?

Any amount off of listing fees is good for me. Makes me happy!

Just want to clarify!

Perfect timing. The worst sales week of the year is when they do something like this. I will list my items as normal, but don't expect much in the end. Kind of reminds me of my mom clipping coupons for crap she doesn't need, but buys it because "it's a good deal".

Not only that but they aren't really being very generous with their discount. They seem to be hoping to attract big ticket items instead of cheap clutter and considering the final bid results this week, wonder why anyone would want to take such a risk and list.

I was going to list tomorrow anyhow ~ it's my only day off work this week.

So it works out for me because I was listing one way or the other.

Who am I to complain?

HelgaGPataki: The BIN fee is regular price, just the regular auction fee is half off.

I figured a promo would be coming soon. The counts are lower than the beginning of Aug.

So I can still list my stuff, just have to do it auction wise instead of BIN wise for the day.

Thanks.

Helga: I don't use BIN so I'm not sure if it is a nickel or a dime now.

But, as I understand it your auction listing will get half price but your BIN upgrade will be whatever it normally is (5 cents or 10 cents).

Anyone think it is worth an all out effort like ending store items and listing hundreds?

1. It is the last day of the month so fees will go in this month.
2. It is a holiday weekend.

Advice or comments?

This is still not worth the time. Skip it and wait until a real Free Listing Day. The fees will still eat you up. Wait until after christmas.

If you are going to list anyways it's great. I'm not sure why the negative attitudes. I just had a simple question.

debest,
you are a leech anyway.

50% off can be a very good deal if you play the game right. Only problem is the timing. Sales will be next to nothing over the holiday weekend and the Tuesday after Labor Day traditionaly is very bad too as this is the day where most students go back to school and parents are sorting things out from daily life and the long weekend.

Then there is the 60% reduction for ebay motors home page feature. Oh boy!!! Now I can post my items and make all kinds of money, NOT.

I didn't mean to be negative.

I will post my usual 50 items. But, my question was on the feasibility of listing about 1200 as I usually do on the 10 cent days.

I just wasn't sure if I could even recoup the fees at half price and with the holiday weekend so it was an honest question.

I would still welcome other peoples opinion on whether it would be worth it to list all my unsold inventory or just hold off for the scheduled relisting during September and October.

Edited to add I usually do very well on the special listing days, but this is not a good time for me...fee wise or time wise so I was checking to see what everyone else was going to do.

Imagine ebay hopes you will take the bait and list your entire unsold inventory. That is the idea of the promotion . This way they get listings and extra revenue from gallery etc they that normally would not get at this time. I myself think it is a crap shoot with the odds greatly in eBays favor.

Linda,
Holding off in September is actually a pretty good idea, but not in October. Christmas shopping online traditionaly begins around the first of October (give or take a day or two). I personally will keep a few trinket items listed in September, but October, its list like mad.

I am listing - never one to turn down a deal I'm leaving my store items in the store though - I get lots of cross store sales when I increase my listings. Many schools already started - not EVERYONE has kids in school (sniff-sniff I am already a little sad that my youngest is off to college this year - the first year in 15 that I haven't shopped at Target for "Back to School" supplies!)

dbest - waiting until after Christmas has to be dworst idea! Ever feel you are Waiting for Godot??

My sales are very good right now,so I will take my chances that they will be for the Holiday. I'll post 100 for today anyway. Only problem is I've got a ton of new ads to write as well, guess that will have to wait.

GOOD LUCK ALL!

I did end 179 store listings and converted them to auction (only the ones that haven't ran through the last two specials Ebay gave us).

Now, to get some new things ready to go!

Edited to add:

Thanks StoneCold...I think I will try to get a huge bunch of listings for the first of October. Lot's of people buy my postcards as Birthday presents so maybe Christmas will be especially good this year as well!

I didn't start listing on a full time basis until last January so I haven't seen a full cycle of ups and downs yet where I was consistently tossing out new listings each week.

I've "played around" with Ebay since 1998 but decided it was literally now or never to get this stuff out there and I could certainly use an increase in sell through rates. Last week was one of my best though so I guess Neglus is right about lots of people already settled in. Let's hope it continues through next weekend. Sales came to a halt last night with only 9 of 100 items having bids now.
