That sounds like good news to me.

I listed one thing - didn't sell it...I just wanted to test the waters anyway. I won't be back until they get some more lookers and postcards start bringing decent prices...there are no discounts for "early" sellers are there? Sorry, but business is business and I am not in the pioneering/guinea pig biz...hope it does take off though!

Hello Again...now we can go to Los Vegas and have a party with Overstock...Maybe, getting the site right such as the search, would be better served.

Sure this isn't bidville or yahoo lol...I did sell 1 out of 3 listed, it sold for much less than it went for on ebay, but worth the try. My to do list is pretty long, listing on overstock is somewhat above listing on yahoo - Right at the bottom of the list.

I listed 2 and neither have sold. I don't have time to list on 2 sites if one is not bringing the dollars.

Now, anybody has the chance to say he or she had Barry Bonds' 700th home run ball, if only for a moment in cyberspace.

The ball will go on sale in a nine-day Internet auction starting Monday, said the attorney for Steven Williams, the Pacifica man who emerged with the super souvenir from a scrum in the left-field bleachers at SBC Park last month.

Bidding on Overstock.com will start at $1, and there is no reserve, allowing just about anyone to experience the thrill of having No. 700. But as is the custom with Bonds' balls, the top dog at one moment is likely to get clobbered the next.

"If we did it with the big auction houses, it wouldn't have the fan appeal, it would just go to the big shots," said Daniel Horowitz, Williams' attorney. "But I've got to be careful; someone who had the high bid for 30 seconds on the Web site may claim to have the ball."

I pulled my items, the site is too glitchy and buggy. Not secure at all. Have 1 bid, emailed the bidder to write me direct for payment.

Too bad, but OVS is still way aways from competing on a bigger level.

BTW, did you know goodwill has an auction site and it's doing VERY VERY WELL!

I sold three items the first week out of 10. Listed 10 more items the next week, so far nada. But ironically can say the same about ebay. Nada so far this week.

Hope not...anyone with any encouragement?

On the two items I sold after the auctions closed and the belt buckle sold on Overstock, the buyers paid like clockwork. More than I can say for some on eBay.

There should be a lot of lookers on Monday, when the 700th home run baseball goes on auction on OS.

I no longer sell on feeBay. I sell only on my dealers site, and have listed a few items on Overstock. I'm happy so far.

This thread had me thinking earlier today. This has been a very strange year online. Normally this time of year, the Christmas season is in full swing. On ebay and elsewhere. So far this year, nothing going on. Do you think that the election might have something to do with the very slow online sales?

It might be worth a shot to wait and try again just after the election with one more set of listings to see what happens. Then if nothing, move on.

Stonecold

I was thinking the same thing about the elections.

Ebay bids are way way down. I hope that after this election is over with things will pick up.

It's slow everywhere -- except the Goodwill store auction site (smile). it's the economy. people don't have the discretionary cash that they had years ago, bec of gas costs, high property taxes, you name it.

Salegal48 Our sales are fine. But, the election is having an economic effect. We needed to invest some funds, but instead of putting such into anything long term, we went with much lower paying CD's for 6 months, till after the election. The economy is too "iffy," depending on who is elected, and we didn't want to make any major commitment till after the election.

Just praying Bush is returned to office, Kerry scares me to death, plus I totally disagree with his extreme liberal positions.

Hi...has the big 0 dwindled. I was hoping it would pick up, but from the various boards, here and eBay.
The first bang seems to have fizzled.
Any good news..

I was going to go crazy on listing but I am glad I didn't. I have only sold 2 things from there and have listed a total of about 40. Maybe after the elections.

My craft booth at one of the craft malls is real slow compared to last year. I should've known that everyone is afraid of the "unknown" in an election year.

This is the first day of auction on the 700th Home Run baseball on Overstock. Started at $1.00 with no reserve. I was going to bid just for fun. I think not, the price is already up to $125,915.00.
This ball is certified and the auction is being handled by attorneys.

I listed a few items on OS. I listed the best selling items I carry. The firt week over two hundered hits, not sales. Lots of email..... only from people who want to be my "friend". I wish I knew how many "real" bidders looked at my auctions. I spend $10. I will give it another try.

stop: I know that you were not addressing me, and I can understand the thought behind your question. Maybe I am one of the lucky ones but I received quick payment on all three of my transactions from Overstock..
I too have my doubts, but I would sure like to see someone become an alternative to eBay.
If Overstock can afford a commercial in the New York/Boston game and they are handling the sale of the 700th home run baseball, maybe they stand a chance of at least giving eBay a little scare.
I sure wouldn't want to make a bid on that baseball, win, and couldn't put the money into escrow. Not with all those attorneys working on it.

The baseball is now at $154,546.00 with almost 8 days to go on Overstock.
