Thats just great, except you can insure with Discount Shipping Insurance (DSI) for 40 cents/$100.00. They are underwritten by St. Paul Fire & Marine, one of the biggest in the USA in Casualty insurance. I have had one claim for $75.00 & they paid it in 10 days!!

You already can print out insurance on the USPS site. Makes no sense to get ebay involved with it in anyway, shape or form.

I've gone with DSI as well, I just filed my first 2 claims the last couple of days, so we'll see how it goes. Since my last claim with the USPS took 7 weeks to pay (and they lost some of the paperwork too!) I hope for much better. It will be a real test since one of the packages was international. I got quoted a flat rate for covering all packages, quite reasonable, and now don't worry about packages not getting there. (well, I do but I won't be liable)

sanmar,
I know how the ebay/paypal thing works, and it is clearly for the less educated.

Sanmar:

Thank you for your posting on reference to DSI Insurance.

I too use DSI and find them easy to get along with.

They insurance rate is the cheapest I found with the exception of USPS Registered Mail in which case the USPS is still the cheapest.

We use Registered Mail for shipment in excess of $1,000.00 and up to $25,000.

Their rate for FedEx and UPS is unbelievable!

Their rate for international shipping is not bad also!

Happy holiday to all!
