Any time i try to play real 'streaming' video, it's real choppy video like strobing ... so, i'm looking for 'updates' on my realplayer and windows media player, and one of the settings i'm supposed to choose is the connection speed in kbps ... they give me 3 different numbered choices for my cable, but i don't know which one to choose ... how can i find out what kbps MY connection has? TIA...

I'm on cable too. I'm wondering if mine is so much slower though because I'm connected thru a D-link.
I'll have to go to the other rooom and check to computer that's actually attached to the cable.

It also measures your upload speed, which most don't.

At the shop I'm on DSL, with a very fast 3 Mb download and a surprisingly fast 700+Kb upload speed.
At home, I'm on cable, with 2.5Mb download and so-so 300+Kb upload.
Cable doesn't necessarily beat DSL, just most of the time

You all make me sick! I am stuck with 44Kbps dial up until they get the stupid cable in this stupid town fixed.

If it's any consolation, and it's probably not, you and the other millions with a connection like that are why I shrink my images to 50KB or smaller.
