Do you think we'll get our annual FLD this year? what date? (when was it last year?)

I think it's traditionally been the day after Christmas. Since Christmas this year is on a Saturday, a free listing day on Sunday would hit a lot of us just right, wouldn't it?!

I think most FTDs are usually on Thursdays.

Year before last it was around New Year. I think on the 2nd.

It was on the 26th in 2002 and 2003 - I remember because I pulled all-nighters to list - never got to day after Christmas sales!

If they have a FLD, it will be between the 26th and 31st of December. They want a record number of active listings on the last day of the year. It makes their 4th quarter report impressive for the stockholders.

Neglus - start preparing them now! I have a folder in my MW inventory that is just for free listing day. All the stuff I have that is a little questionable I photograph and write the description on just as I would normally but it the listing is stored in my FLD folder and the items boxed up and put in the corner. Come a FLD day all I have to do is check all the items and schedule their launch. Makes things so much easier. Of course knowing that there is one coming up in just over a month helps too. Keeps me motivated to go ahead and get the auctions ready.

Neglus is right. That would have put them ending on the 2nd.

fenix - for FLD I just take my unsold inventory right from Vendio and launch - it takes time because I have to make sure I actually have the postcard in hand when I relist (I have been embarassed more than once when the postcard has wandered away from where it is supposed to be). I always have about 1000 unsold items hanging around and that's enough to handle in a week! Because postcard listing is so labor intensive for the $ amount of sale I don't waste my time writing up questionable items - even for FLD.

Pardon my ignorance, is the week after Christmas a big BUYING week? Is that why it sounds important-from reading this thread- to list on the Free day? I want to capitalize on ALL opportunities. ;-}
Thanks!

It all depends on your product. When I ran a niche mail order business January was our biggest month thanks to people who either recieved money or one of our poroducts for Christmas.

EPOWER - I am sure the items would do better some other time - especially when the market is so flooded with listings. That is why I don't "waste" new listings on FLD. My sell through usually is quite a bit lower than my usual sell through (not that the usual is all that high) but my sales have always made FLD worth the effort and you can't beat the price.

I still think ebay stores are the next best thing to FLD and would never save up all my inventory for FLD!

Epower,
The three to four weeks after Christmas are always very good for sales. Get your items ready. Then sell like hell.
