Just ready to get some shipments packed, when I thought, I know my bank is closed, but what about the Post Office...........

Some of the post offices in my area have the lobby open 24 hours 7 days a week. You can mail packages (as long as they are not international) via there new automated postage machine.
This may be an option for you. There would be no lines today.

fyi: not all post offices are closed for MLK. the post office located just outside the portland airport is open every day, except christmas. their counter hours are also something like 6am to midnight.
