In light of the fee increases and my intention of raising the price of what I sell to cover those increases, I did some searching on the Internet for various incentives I could offer my customers. Since I hate dealing with checks and money orders, I think I may start using the coupons offered here throught the year as special sales, etc.:

http://www.tradecoupon.com/index.php

The cost is only $9.95 per year! I don't live that close to my bank and usually only go every other week. It makes it a hassle when I have to wait (and wait, and wait) for checks and money orders to appear in the mail.

Is anyone else using this type of service? I could probably do it manually, but for this low cost, I think I'll let someone else do the work for me. Thoughts and input would be appreciated!!!!

Very interesting. Looks like it has great potential. Wonder how long the cost will stay at $10 a year, which is not sustainable.

That's why I signed up for it now. At least for a year I'll only have the $9.95. Think I can handle the initial outlay for that. If it doesn't pan out, I'm not out that much money.

I experimented by sending a coupon notice to myself and this is the email I got:

Hello,

Your eBay seller, XXXX, has generated a TradeCoupon.com coupon for you! This coupon can be applied towards any PayPal payment made to this seller.

Your TradeCoupon : XXXXXXXXX

Your discount: 10.00% off your next purchase!

The next time you pay this seller simply visit http://www.TradeCoupon.com to redeem your coupon. Your coupon will be applied and you will be redirected to PayPal.com to submit the discounted payment to your seller. It's that easy!

To browse through your seller's current auction listings, click the link below:

THE LINK TO YOUR AUCTION SALES IS AUTOMATICALLY INSERTED HERE. I DELETED IT FOR PRIVACY.

If you have any questions please visit http://www.TradeCoupon.com/how.php

This notice was generated by THIS IS YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS. AGAIN, I DELETED IT.

Interesting. Very interesting.

I also like the fact that you can put the coupon right in your auction or send them to individual buyers.

It's a very good idea for your regular customers.

I'll have to try it and see if it increases the percentage of return bidders.

Thanks for posting this. When I get my website up this will be a great way to invite my existing customers there.

Cheryl:

While I'm leery of sending emails (unles the buyer lost the coupon number & requests a new one), I did make up a STORE page:

My only complaint so far is that one cannot "tailor" the terms a bit more ~ I tried to contact "support" but the link donna work...

Tom

I drop a short note with my invoices. Everyone so far has said they like the coupon. So, I send them the email. It's a tab bit more work, but it may pan out. I like repeat buyers because at least you know what they're about.

Here's his email address: [email protected]. Got it from PayPal. I'll email him to let him know the link does not work.

A suggestion I would have for him is a way for us to tailor fit the emails sent to the customers.
