This email seems to be for people that want to keep their eBay store open, regardless of the incoming price increases.

I will try to summarize that email:

1. - If you open or reopen an eBay Store, your first month is free. (Quoting the eBay Store main page: Starting at just $14.99/month, an eBay Store is the most cost-effective way to build your business online. Join the thousands of sellers who have already made eBay Stores the most popular storefront solution on the web. With our step-by-step set-up, you can open your own Store in minutes. And, Stores offers a FREE month trial, so what are you waiting for? Notice that it does not make a difference whether you are opening or reopening the eBay store. Notice that the fee is quoted as $14.99 and not $9.95 or $15.95.

2. - The name of the store after closing remain unavailable to the general eBay user for a period of time, similar to the eBay user ID.

3. - If you operate an eBay Store during the month of April 2005, you receive a $15.95 credit. That makes you eligible for the $15.95 eBay Credit for operating the store during the month April 2005, (from the email of Bill Cobb).

4. - It suggests to close the store before the 18th of February, the date on which the new fee increases take effect.

5. - Also that keeping the store thru 02/18/05 and listing your items for 120 days to avoid the new FVF of 8% for the first $25.00, it is a pie on the sky, wishful thinking and that eBay will start charging the new FVF starting on 02/18/05, regardless of when you listed your item, as on prior fee increases.

The Results:

You close your store before the 18th and are not affected by the new fees during this cycle.

You reopen your store before the 31st of March 2005. To reopen the store, your first month is free.

The ultimate result, you receive two free months of rent-free eBay Store.

Was that the intent of the letters of clarification of eBay, to reduce the eBay Store fee by almost $2.66 for the first year and help sellers on the transition to higher fees, while not appearing to be reducing the eBay Store fees?

Does it make sense to you?

Did anyone closed their store and reopened?
Did you received the first month free for reopening your store?
Was the name of your store available to you on reopening?

Thanks for your help!

Dear dacreson & sanmar:

Perhaps I need to make it clear that the above email didn't originated from eBay, but it was received from another eBay Dealer.

Note it is an strategy to obtain two months free an eBay Store, that is an additional month over what was offered by Bill Cobb's email.

I was wondering if this strategy has worked for anyone else?

Thanks,

I QUESTION that the savings of two months for the 2 free months, is worth the time it would take to set up a new store......

I think I'll just leave mine alone.

The only thing I plan to do is close a couple of sections in our store which aren't really productive.
