eBay NEVER deletes old accounts unless you specifically ask them to. Just let your account sit unused for years if you want. It doesn't cost a thing to let your account sit.
Just make sure you have any "subscription" services turned off and just stop listing. That way if someday you decide to get back into it, your account, along with all the feedback you've built up, will stlil be there.

I don't know how you would go about it here in the U.S. However, in Romania they just list 200 non-existant laptops at $499.00 each, collect for all of them through Western Union and disappear. Two or three weeks later Ebay will get around to closing their account.

Seems that all we need to do is suspend our account ourselves.
According to Ebay, if you close the account it is never ever reopened. That makes totally no sense.

Sorry,,,,,, but Oh yes they DO close accounts NEVER to be seen or Brought up again,,,,,you can search till the cows come home for a certain e bay handles and will NEVER find them,,,,,, if you REQUEST it be GONE, thy will be done......FACT.......I know for a fact this seller requested such from e bay and they dissappeared....

I don't see why anyone would close an account, just let it go inactive. Leaves more options for later down the line
