I'm not posting this to his web site yet because I don't have all the exact details. He is in ICU. They've discovered Diabetes. His blood pressure is dangerously elevated and he is running a dangerously high fever. They are not allowing him to drink or eat anything right now. I'll know more details when I go to the hospital tonight. For now, I'd rather just post this here. Time for more prayers.

Not good news Cheryl, but I know members here are praying with you, there is always hope.

Heartbreaking to see more complications for the little guy.

we are all thinking of him and wish him the best. I think of him often thru the day. My troubles are nothing compared to him and those closest to him.

It breaks my heart when little children go through such a horrible experience. Ryan, you and all of your family are in our prayers. Please keep us posted.

Oh no, Cheryl! Do they think that the diabetes is somehow related to the blood transfusion or the leukemia?

My prayers are ALWAYS with Ryan these days.

Dear Cheryl,

I'm on "double-time" prayer for Ryan. There are no real words of comfort but please know there are many of us who really care.

Sending hugs and positive thoughts to you and the family.

Dear Lord ... please keep Ryan in your loving arms and deliver his pain and suffering. (sigh)

Cheryl, I'll just hang on this A/C unit we got for you, till Ken's got time to meet me.

Godspeed, little Ryan ... Godspeed.

Cheryl, I have put your family and Ryan on our prayer list at my church. You are in my personal thoughts and prayers ... I pray for Ryans strength to come through this dreadful time in his young life. For his parents to keep their strength and know that there are many people thinking of and praying for their child and themselves. Please keep us advised...

Diane

I'm going to call Melissa later today. It's hard to talk to her over the phone in the ICU. The last time I tried, there was so much noise I could barely hear her and every time I tried to ask her about Ryan's condition, she'd start crying. I'm also going up to visit on Tuesday night.

Melissa got to leave the hospital overnight on Thursday. My sister-in-law stayed at the hospital so that Melissa could get away for a night. By that time, she had been there with Ryan for nine days with no real time-outs.

I'm hoping that they get his condition stabilized before I leave for vacation. We'll only be gone four days, but I don't want to spend those days worried. Fortunately, the cabin will have a phone and people can get in touch with me.

Again, my prayers are with this young man...
It's nice to know that even though this is a forum for "ebay" and related topics, when something more important comes up we can discuss it here with eachother as in the case with Ryan or our pets. This is the only message center I visit on the internet and I am glad to have found it 3 or 4 years ago when I did!

I talked to my niece today. Ryan's temp is down, but his blood pressure is still elevated. His liver keeps going up and down in size and he does now have Diabetes because of the liver problems. They don't know if it's a temporary thing or if it will be permanent. We are hoping it's not permanent. The last thing he needs is daily insulin shots on top of the chemo.

I agree with mimic, this board is the greatest. Some of us here disagree rather passionately on the RT, but on the EO we do a great job of coming together. I've gotten more support here over this tragedy then I've gotten any where else. Thank you all!

How is little Ryan doing today, Cheryl?

I keep thinking about him every day.

Marcia

He got out of ICU today and is improving. Slowly, but improving nonetheless. I can't update the web site until I reinstall Front Page. My computer took a dive this morning and I've spent all day getting this far. What a waste of a day!!

The doctors still don't know if the diabetes is permanent or not.

That is great news, Cheryl ... at least it is alleviating a bit ...
I was looking at your Ryan page this evening, and saw that "Walter May" on there for a dontation, and thought, "how cool!"; that is my husband, Tom's, uncle ... wonderful elderly man living in Minnesota ...

Also, I have a cousin (an R.N.) in Minnesota who left hospital work because of God's calling for her to do prayerful 'healing sessions' for people .... I wrote to her a few days ago about little Ryan because his condition was worsening (when he was put in ICU for ravaging fever and swelling/shrinking/swelling liver) .... he was still in ICU, but I realized his fever diminished close to the time that my cousin Sharon did the prayer session for him ... from way over in Minnesota, to that little baby in the Cleveland Clinic, her prayer to God helped alleviate him a little bit perhaps ... A local friend of mine also said she put little Ryan on the national call-in prayer line at Ernest Angsley ministries ...
God's very best to your family ... we will keep those prayers and donations coming in for Melissa .... Love, Marcia/ohio

Oh, boy I wish I could be bearer of good news here. Ryan is in terrible trouble again. He has a serious fungus infection in his blood that is not responding to antibiotics. The doctors don't know how to kill it. If they cannot, it will eventually attack his vital organs. I've advised my brother to look into St. Jude's as I think this is getting away from the Cleveland Clinic.

On a lighter note, the Cleveland Indians are arranging an auction. The winner gets to throw out the first pitch during a game! I will advise when that auction starts. I don't know yet what the venue will be.

That poor little boy has been through so much, it must be so hard to watch him suffer. I will continue to pray for him. Let's hope they can get the fungal infection under control.
