Okay...I'm a relative newbie to some of you, but I seek your honest wisdom and advice! In your opinions, what is the best time to post on e-bay? I usually start my auctions Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays at 6 P.M, PST. Is there a secret e-bay club that looks at other times? I just acquired a large lot of women's clothing and I'm trying to do my best for the client. Thanks everyone! I know we're trying to beat the "dead heat" of summer here, but any advice is appreciated!

It's not a matter of what time to launch an auction, what's important is when it ends. In my opinion, Firday, Saturday and Sunday nights are the worst times to have an auction end. Friday and Saturday the page hits are the lowest. Sunday has a lot of viewers, but there are so many auctions ending between 6:30 and 8:30 PDT that a potential buyer has to make a quick decision on whether to bid on your item or that of any one of a thousand competitors who has an auction ending at the same time. Remember, a bidder can usually only be in one place at a time. I've found Monday, Tuesday and Thursday nights to be my best. The corresponding start time is dictated by whether you are running a 1, 3, 5, 7, or 10 day auction.

Also, whenever I sell something for women, like clothing, I try to figure out what times they'd likely be busy. Saturday mornings, dinner hours on week nights, that sort of thing, and avoid ending at those times. If it's religious books, I wouldn't have them end on a Sunday morning.

On the other hand, if you're selling fancy, spangly, sequinned evening wear, it might appeal to crossdressers, in which case it wouldn't matter, I suppose, when the auction ends.

Ending time is key as stated.
Sparkz - Monday is good for you? I never had much luck with that but then I never end then.
I do best with Tuesday and Thursday. I will end on Sunday only if I have a special item as Sundays don't do well for me.
Are these designer clothes? I just got ton of clothes myself (nice clothes - real cheap) and I started listing them. Clothing is a pain in the a$$ and I want to go back to antiques!!!
Are you a seller's assistant? Do you have a mannequin? I think that's what's going to make the real difference.

Thanks for the advice! I've only ever sold womens high end clothing and do quite well with it. All of what you've said is what I've been doing. I thought maybe there was another obvious trick to timing. I usually end my items at what I think might be quiet times around the house as well. I don't have a manequin but would love to have one...any leads on cheapies? Thanks Vendio peeps!

You can start with a flat one (mannequin) which sell very cheap on ebay or some web sites. I just got a 3/4 torso (round not flat) for $20 plus $16 shipping. It's very small - like a 6 or 8 and it was all marked up which is why it was cheap. As soon as I got it - spray painted it black and put it in front of a black sheet. I have only used it for a couple of swimsuits but they really pop. I also have a full mannequin which I am restoring. I am still able to use it for a lot of things and it's lovely. There are deals out there you just have to look. I may even sell mine after I sell all my vintage clothes.
