I have a sister in law who does web design but lives in a different city.
Can she build a website for me from her computer?

yes. I'm far from an expert. But I have a friend whose boyfriend does web design for a living. He lives here in Indiana and most of his customers are in California.

Hopefully your sister-in-law knows the answer or she's not the right person for the job.
Sure. Anyone can make you a website. They need to have access to the server it will live on.
Building a *good* website...that's another vat full of finny creatures.
It is worth investing the time to learn how to do it yourself. It's not hard, and you will be the one who has to maintain the page eventually anyway. And believe me, they take a lot of maintaining.

Well, a friend of mine spent over $100,000 on his website. And he still has to pay them to maintain it when he adds or drops products.
Like house painting, it's not hard, it's just not that much fun.

Or you can join a shopping site such as Rubylane or Yahoo shopping or MSN shopping and let them maintain it,all you have to do is pay them a fee.
Blujay is free,I think?

That's true, but she was talking about having her own website.
I am contemplating an overhaul of my own site into a true clearance outlet for not just jewelry, but handbags, shoes and accessories too. And no eBay affiliations except for my own auctions. eBay has messed up the program so badly that many affiliates are quitting.
I think the Woot-style sites are focused in a way that creates interest. Plus they probably have an extremely low rate of shopping cart abandonment.
