Just got off the phone with PayPal. Here was the problem:

On the PayPal Overview Screen it showed buyer paid $3.95 for S&H. When I clicked on Details (of the transaction) it also showed $3.95 for S&H. Please note that the payment from this Buyer in my balance only reflected a $3.95 charge for S&H.

However, when I clicked on Print Shipping Label, it showed $5.70 for S&H which included $1.75 for Insurance (it indicated Insurance Included). So the question this raises is did the Buyer pay for insurance or not, and if so, why didn't the $1.75 show up in my balance? Have I been shipping non-insured items when I should have been shipping insured items? And if so, why isn't the insurance money showing up in my account and WHAT IS PAYPAL DOING WITH THE INSURANCE MONEY?

When I called PayPal the representative gave me the run around indicating that the amount shown was an estimate (????). Having done thousands of these transactions I knew he was full of it, so I asked to speak to a Supervisor.

She indicated that PayPal knows of this problem and that she would credit my account for the $1.75. So I asked, did the Buyer pay for insurance? She said she did not know.

She said she "would add my account to the list of accounts that are having this problem." I said, well great my account (at least for this transaction is taken care of), but what about the other PayPal users who may be getting ripped off for their insurance money. She had no answer other than the PayPal "engineers" are looking into the problem.

YOU MAY WANT TO CHECK YOUR ACCOUNTS WHEN YOU DO YOUR NEXT TRANSACTIONS TO SEE IF YOU HAVE SIMILAR PROBLEMS.

What a scam! Check your paypal history and see how long they have been doing that.

Funny thing...you can't check your history because it only shows up when you click on PRINT SHIPPING LABEL. It is only then (before you print the label) that you can see the difference in S&H costs noted there versus in the Details of the transaction.

NOW ISN'T THAT EVEN MORE CONVENIENT FOR PAYPAL.

Freddy,

Contact an attorney and see if you can be the lead in a class action suit. If you do it and win/settle, I want a first-class meal as a thank you.

My personal account doesn't appear to have the problem, and my ex-business account I don't know about.

Depending on how wide-spread the problem was/is, PayPal really does owe us at least an explanation.

I'm not a lawyer, but I think it's called "fraudulent conversion."

I've notice a difference in what I thought I was paid and what paypal said too. but if I remember correctly it did automatically check the circle that says insurance on the shipping label.
Do you mean I was paid for insurance and I would buy the shipping insurance but paypal wasn't giving me credit for the insurance?

ebabestreasures,

Not really...the Buyer may have paid for insurance but the blocks indicating so might not have been automatically checked.

You really have to look first at the S&H charges shown in the details of the transaction (from your overview screen before you ship the item) then look at the information shown on the screen when you click Print Shipping Label from your overview screen. If there is a difference in the S&H charges shown...you have the same problem I was having.

there's no MAYBE about it considering most claims favor the buyer.
I guess when the day comes that everyone has to use PP. My little eB biz will have to close.

When you go to the Print Shipping Label Screen right under the price of the item you will see the amount TOTAL SHIPPING AND HANDLING PAID BY RECIPIENT. This value should be the same as that shown for S&H when you click on DETAILS from your overview screen.

On mine it is not, but rather adds in the amount I would charge for insurance EVEN IF THE BUYER DOES NOT BUY INSURANCE. So the question I ask PayPal is WHERE IS THE MONEY THE RECIPIENT PAID FOR INSURANCE since it does not show up in my account totals? Did the BUYER really purchase insurance and you (PayPal) are keeping the money and not passing it on to me?

Having complained twice already (I had to twice ask for a Supervisor), they have credited my account with the difference.

Thank you for bring this to our attention...

I just printed a bunch of shipping labels using PayPal MultiOrder Shipping...

I have one label I did not print.. and sure enough,,, she paid for shipping and it did not show on the detail page...

I can ask what number you called for paypal..

Thank you

UPDATE ::

I went in to my paypal account.. on several payments that I have all ready shipped.... about 10 of them ....
I clicked on " ship another" and every single one came up with a different total on the next page.... I really do not believe that all of my buyers bought insurance.. even on a $2.00 item it showed up....

A big paypal glitch in our favor if you want it to be ????

Just to let you know...
