I have looked through all the Announcements and tried to make sense of some of it but I don't see anything about Stores...did I miss something?

If there are no changes to Stores then I am somewhat perplexed as to the advantage of having a Store.

I am not a big Power Seller so no discounts for me. Sometimes in late Fall or Spring I manage to be a Bronze Power Seller but that disappears pretty quickly.

Thoughts please?

I don't think there will be any changes to the store.

You will still need to update store listing with the no check/mo and return and Handling time policies. For any books listed you will need to specify condition.

"advantage to having a store".....

Really depends on what you sell. Some will say it is just a dumping ground for slow movers. Others hate stores..."can't sell it...don't list it" type mentality. Bottom line...3¢ for 30 days (75¢ or so for a year) to list a -$25 item and automatic relists. Costs you $16+/mnth. Your "search" status is on the bottom for these type items...UNLESS what you sell is more unique then mass produced. Again, some will say EVERYTHING is mass produced and NO ONE finds stuff in your store. Some will and some won't agree that auctions are basically DONE, not many buyers "fight" for that item, rather they snipe it with 7 seconds left and as a seller you may get 3 or 4 bids instead of the 20-30 that happened in the past. Now a lot of sellers are just listing items in auction or stores at a starting price they are happy with. Thought with this NEW ebay announcement it might be good to list for 5¢ in the fixed price...but rereading it, I overlooked the MEDIA ONLY line first time through. (Which kind of translates to - here JAYANDMARIE, we are giving you a discount through Dec.). Th eone change I am curious about is the 4.3 DSR rating - (CAN NOT LIST)...my understanding is the items you have will remain, but can't add any...something like when you don't pay your bill.

"thoughts please?"....these are MY thoughts, and I know certain individuals here critize each post...have fun...

So far I'm not seeing too much to be upset about.
I, for one, am sick of parking stuff in my store and was thinking of moving it to auction at a very low price to clean out my inventory and leave only the best stuff there.
Now I'm thinking I should move everything to Fixed price and leave it till Christmas. I can always reopen the store later if needed.

Thanks for the input..

ewora. I changed to accepting PayPal only several months ago and I have my handling time and Return Policies stated as I spent hours...days...revising everything a while ago.

rhpepsi. I don't think your kitty will forgive you for a long time!
I sell mainly older English China, 1950's - 70's ladies scarves, Silver and a general Potpourri of all things old. No newer mass produced items at all. I agree 100% about the auctions, I have been listing at what I would be happy to get and that's mostly what I have been getting lately. Ahhh...for the good old days!

I have had my Store for several years and I like it but if there is a more efficient way to turn over some of the stuff then I am all for it. I guess I could list a mix of Fixed Price & Auctions.

We are going to be away for late September and all of October so I want to prepare a lot of listings before I go so I can get right to it when we return.

I too am curious about the 4.3DSR, what will Sellers be able to do to get re-instated?

My prediction of eBay stores is that they will put stores in regular search, dump the current fee structure and move to discounts on the $.35 BIN listing fee - dependent on what level store you subscribe to. We've had hints from surveys in the past and introducing a BIN GTC fee shows me this is the direction EBAY is headed in.

EBay UK is doing away with shop format listings Sept. 24.

Here is their announcement:

http://pages.ebay.co.uk/pricechange08/#sif

The UK store subscription rate is going up:
14.99 GBP ($27.73) for Basic store - this gives a 50% discount on the .40 GBP BIN listings - making basic store listing fees at $0.37 for a 30 day/GTC listings.

Featured store has a 49.99 GBP ($92.49) monthly subscription fee with a .05 GBP ($.09) BIN listing fee.

Anchor store has a monthly subscription fee of 349.99 GBP ($647.52 -YIKES) with BIN listing fee of .01 GBP.

There's no guarantee about the future of Stores in the "new" ebay. They have one model in Italy and it looks like another in UK. I don't think they know themselves exactly how it will shake out in US.

I asked this very question on the change discussion board and here are the answers I got from pinks:

Hi again neglus,

Yup - Store and SIF will continue to be an important tool for sellers to help them market their listings and build a brand on eBay. These changes will also let Store sellers bring some of their inventory onto the core marketplace for a good price to get more exposure.

Hi,

Store Inventory format continues to be an important option with the same great pricing as before. It’s a great format for items such as accessories and add-ons that can compliment your core items. If the Store Inventory Format is working for you today, it will work for you after these new announcements.

Also, with new rates for Fixed Price, it’s more economical than ever to drive buyers from core to your Store Inventory listings. This is just another great way, along with Auctions and Stores Marketing, to drive buyers back to your store.

Mike

This is true. Existing listings will be allowed to run their course.

"I too am curious about the 4.3DSR, what will Sellers be able to do to get re-instated?"

Here's what eBay suggests. Basically, bust a** or hurry up and wait.

"*Complete current transactions successfully and receive high DSRs

*If 12-month DSRs are above the minimum standard, wait for low DSRs over the last 30 days to roll off until the 30-day DSRs are above the threshold or a full 30-days have passed

*If 12-month DSRs are below the threshold, wait until low DSRs to roll off"

OK, here's my question. Perhaps I am braindead with all of the announcements.

"New Good 'Til Cancelled option
In addition to the new 30-day duration for Fixed Price listings, sellers will now have the option to use the Good 'Til Cancelled (GTC) duration which allows listings to automatically renew every 30 days. This option is also available at no extra cost."

Does this mean we get to list at a Fixed Price for no additional fees if the item rolls over when we use GTC?

I am not sure I have digested all of this, but it doesn't seem to make much sense to continue to have a store and pay the store fee of $16 + per month if fixed price goes for 30 days and the FVF is the same as store FVF.

Am I missing something here (more than possible right now!!).

GTC means that it will automatically relist on 30 days and eBay will charge you the insertion fee again.

Big difference in FIXED prices and STORE prices.

Stores...3¢ - 10¢ for items every 30 days
Fixed....35¢ for the items every 30 days, unless you sell media(sell on Amazon for free listing)- eBay's "special" is 5¢ for media through December.

I asked the same question as Neglus (on the first day we could post).

I got the same answer as she did.

I then asked if we could be assured store format listings would remain as they are for 1 year.

I got a pink slap for repetitive posts.

Then, I went back to my original post and asked if they would change in January.

i explained I would have to restock the store I closed months ago and didn't want to spend 4 months rebuilding it if it was going to disappear.

I got another pink slap for repetitive posts.

Being a brave soul (since I have nothing to lose at this point) I went back to my post and said "silence speaks volumes so I will close my store today".

I am now on a 7 day board vacation for "disruptive postings".

So, my bet is on the new UK format coming here sooner than you think. I don't think it would work for me so I'm still staying closed but you may want to start considering if it would work for you.

Funny thing is, I have posted some really disruptive things on the store board over the past two years.

I was being really nice and asking polite questions with a reason for asking them.

But, they didn't want to answer and they wanted me to quit asking. They eventually forced the issue.
